A woman accused of murdering her terminally ill husband with a “cocktail” of medications has been granted bail after more than a year in custody.<\/p>\n

Kylie Truswell-Mobbs, 50, is due to stand trial for the murder of her husband David Mobbs, who died at their home in Alexandra Hills in December 2023.<\/p>\n

The 56-year-old had an aggressive form of motor neuron disease and was bedridden and unable to speak.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ms Truswell-Mobbs previously told police she administered a “cocktail” of medications to her husband through his feeding tube on December 5, 2023, Justice Paul Smith told the hearing on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

She has always maintained her husband wanted to die, after his condition worsened so that he had difficulty communicating and could no longer control his bowels.<\/p>\n

He died in the early hours of December 6, 2023.<\/p>\n

‘Material change’ in circumstances<\/p>\n

Ms Truswell-Mobbs was charged with her husband’s murder in April 2025 and has been in custody ever since, after her original bail application was refused.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However during her committal hearing in February this year, the court heard from multiple witnesses, including her son Rylee Relja, who confirmed his stepfather wanted to die.<\/p>\n

“I am satisfied there has been a material change of circumstances since [the] original application for bail,” Justice Smith said.<\/p>\n

“Evidence suggests that David was resolute in his desire to die and had communicated this to others.”<\/p>\n

Justice Smith said there was now a better chance Ms Truswell-Mobbs would either be acquitted or found guilty of the lesser charges of manslaughter or aiding a suicide.<\/p>\n

In granting bail, he said she presented little risk of reoffending or flight, and had never previously attempted to interfere with witnesses, despite having regular contact with them.<\/p>\n
