Police have arrested and charged a man with murder after tracking him down to an isolated patch of bushland on the NSW South Coast just four days after a woman went missing from her home in northwestern Sydney.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, officers from Paramatta Police Area Command were told a 58-year-old woman had not returned home after leaving to go meet a relative in Winston Hills about 4.50pm on Monday.<\/p>\n
Relatives who were out searching eventually located the woman\u2019s vehicle on Dodson Crescent in Winston Hills, but the driver was nowhere to be found.<\/p>\n
After police were notified of the strange find, the matter was handed over to detectives attached to Strike Force Dizek.<\/p>\n
On Thursday afternoon, detectives made their way to the Parnell Fire Trail in Tomerong, about 20km south of Nowra on the South Coast.<\/p>\n
\u201cA search warrant was later executed at an address in Sanctuary Point. The man was taken to Nowra Police Station, where he was charged with murder,\u201d a police spokesman said.<\/p>\n
The man, identified as 33-year-old Ante Popovic, appeared briefly in bail division court on Friday morning. He was refused bail.<\/p>\n
The woman\u2019s body has not been located, and the investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n
Mr Popovic is due to appear in Parramatta Local Court on August 13.<\/p>\n
