in by ABC readers from across the state.<\/p>\n<p>North vs South\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">It was a calm start to the month in Western Australia, with the state&#8217;s split weather personality on full display.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">While the northern half baked under the warm sun, the south was blanketed by cloud which produced rain in some April went on, the overnight lows gradually dropped.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Rowers along the Canning River braved a chilly 9.8 degree morning on April 8 to squeeze in some that got below 10 degrees.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The morning of April 22 will be one to remember for folks in Newdegate and Wandering who woke to a frosty minimum below one degree.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Perth also experienced its coldest morning since October, dropping to just 7.2 degrees.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">There were also notable cool maximum temperatures in April, with Swanbourne reaching a record low April maximum of 16.4C, and the Perth Metro having its second-coldest April day at the Mount Lawley site with a temperature of 16.8C.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Despite the brisk weather, we received plenty of impressive sunrise photos.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Two class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">It was lovely beach weather for one of our viewers, Andy Burrows, who enjoyed the sunset with his dog Loki.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A dog sits class=\"Link_link__5eL5m ScreenReaderOnly_srLinkHint__OysWz Link_showVisited__C1Fea Link_showFocus__ALyv2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2026-04-21\/possible-tornado-or-microburst-causes-damage-in-bunbury\/106587242\" data-component=\"Link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">tornado or microburst.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The fronts that followed didn\u2019t pack the same punch but dumped enough rain to give the lawns a decent drink.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Meanwhile further east, the Goldfields and Esperance regions were also putting on a dramatic show, with storms firing off.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img of 65.6 millimetres, nearly double its average rainfall for April.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Meanwhile Laverton recorded more than triple its average with just a handful of rainy first two months of autumn \u2014 spanning March and April \u2014 we&#8217;ve had 110.4mm so far, which is almost double the 56.2mm long-term average.<\/p>\n<p>Rainbows and fogbows\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">We were also treated to some lovely shots of the rainbows that followed the light drizzles in Perth, and a rare ghostly white of cold fronts shaking things up, conditions settled over the ANZAC Day long weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">We had some crisp temperatures around for the dawn service, but the class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Before we had the chance to fully appreciate the sunny weather over the weekend, we were thrown back into the cold and wet conditions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">A trough and large cloud band dragged tropical moisture across a big chunk of the state, producing showers and storms across western and southern long-term April rainfall average, with the city now sitting at a healthy 37.8mm.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">And on the last day of April, Perth and the South West Land Division woke up to a very foggy morning resulting from high moisture, low overnight temperatures and light winds, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Fog
