{"id":3243,"date":"2026-05-02T05:55:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-02T05:55:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/3243\/"},"modified":"2026-05-02T05:55:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-02T05:55:09","slug":"southeast-australia-to-be-hit-with-week-of-rain-as-autumnal-conditions-take-hold","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/3243\/","title":{"rendered":"Southeast Australia to be hit with week of rain as Autumnal conditions take hold"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Autumnal <a class=\"css-1lg16vp-StyledTextLink ezegcyi0\" data-link-type=\"article-inline\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/7news.com.au\/weather\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">weather<\/a> is beginning to take hold across Australia\u2019s southeast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">The Bureau of Meteorology (<a class=\"css-1lg16vp-StyledTextLink ezegcyi0\" data-link-type=\"article-inline\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/7news.com.au\/weather\/bom\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">BOM<\/a>) predicts a deep low pressure system and a cold front moving across the region will bring \u201cthunderstorms, rain, windy conditions and abnormally high tides\u201d over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">The weather system is expected to cause downpours in Melbourne, Adelaide and Hobart for most of, if not all, of the coming week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-178igh4-StyledParagraph e1s06mna1\">Know the news with the 7NEWS app: <a class=\"css-h2mhmv-StyledContextualLink e1s06mna0\" href=\"https:\/\/7news.com.au\/app?utm_source=7NEWS&amp;utm_medium=contextual-link-app&amp;utm_campaign=7news-app\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Download today Arrow<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">BoM meteorologist Christie Johnson said the weather system is expected to move East from Western Australia and join with a colf front sitting over the South Australian coast on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cWe\u2019ll see showers and thunderstorms extending across (SA),\u201d Johnson said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cThe storm risk does extend across most of South Australia and also into the far west of New South Wales and north-western Victoria as well.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cOn Sunday, that system is going to make its way across NSW, Victoria and Tasmania.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">The system is expected to spark thunderstorms stretching from \u201csouthern Queensland down through inland parts of New South Wales and into Victoria\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">It\u2019s expected to bring some relief to a recent stretch of dry conditions to parts of NSW and Victoria, while also whipping up swells across coastlines as it enters the Bass Strait.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ff7c9af1d154351cd080e3b75457b8ac9ab8c49f.png\" alt=\"A low-pressure system mixing with a cold front is expected to bring rainy conditions to southeast Australia.\" class=\"css-16r7l45-StyledImage en5ut4d0\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>A low-pressure system mixing with a cold front is expected to bring rainy conditions to southeast Australia.
