Prior played 39 games for Brisbane between 2020-24. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018Illegal\u2019: Lions coach addresses photo leak<\/p>\n<p>Chris Fagan labelled the leaking of private club information as \u201cunfair\u201d and \u201cdisappointing\u201d, but refused to comment on how it reflects upon Brisbane\u2019s culture.<\/p>\n<p>Fagan took aim at the person responsible for the leaking the photo from inside Brisbane\u2019s inner sanctum.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat man was there with his children, using our facility, and he decides to do that because he\u2019s an Essendon supporter and be a hero,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom our perspective, it\u2019s private information. Somebody illegally took photos of information that was on a whiteboard and decided to make a hero of themselves and put it out in the public domain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI reckon it\u2019s a little unfair when it\u2019s your workplace and it\u2019s what you do every day. It\u2019s information we keep internal and we\u2019ve been doing it for nine years \u2014 writing strengths and vulnerabilities of opposition players up on a whiteboard.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can promise you that nothing that was written up there that had anything sinister in mind or degrading in mind at all.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s where I\u2019ll stay with that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fagan said he had spoken to Jaxon Prior about the incident and suggested there was no ill feelings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not going to comment on isolated things that were written on it,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat player played at our club and the players all know him and we know his partner as well, and there was nothing bad intended at all with that comment, not at all, zero.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI spoke to Jaxon on the field after the game, as did a lot of our players and had a bit of a laugh and a joke together. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m happy for you to go and ask Jaxon what he thinks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Essendon coach Brad Scott said it\u2019s a problem for Brisbane to deal with, but didn\u2019t seem phased by their scathing assessment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey do that for every team, I imagine,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a problem for them to deal with, not for us. I wouldn\u2019t want that coming out of our building. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a tough game and it\u2019s sometimes a psychological game too. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf that\u2019s what\u2019s identified about you, then if you\u2019re a competitor, you respond to it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome juice in this game, some spice between the two clubs, fair to say,\u201d The Herald Sun\u2019s Jay Clark on Kayo Sports\u2019 Super Saturday coverage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome embarrassment at Brisbane over this leaked team analysis, which listed strengths of Essendon players and was pretty savage on some of the Bombers players to be honest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was leaked to social media today. I am told it was the Brisbane players who drew up this list of Essendon\u2019s strengths and weakness, and then it was a parent of an Auskick child who got access to the football department, took a photo through a window and put it up on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s some savage assessments here. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the players\u2019 strengths was listed as his girlfriend\u2019s name.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Host Sarah Jones said there was \u201cquite a personal nature\u201d to some of the player weaknesses. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"poster-img\" src=\"https:\/\/content.api.news\/v3\/images\/bin\/776d6e21c2793dcefa8f8ac885dd1e32\" data-sctrack=\"op-poster-img\" alt=\"Essendon 'whipping boy' Ben McKay cops Bronx cheer\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Zach Merrett was complemented for his kicking skills but labelled \u201cselfish\u201d, as was forward Kyle Langford. <\/p>\n<p>Midfielder Sam Durham was dubbed a \u201chothead\u201d and captain Andrew McGrath\u2019s weakness was highlighted as \u201ckicking cough up\u201d. Durham was praised for his work rate, hunt and leg power. <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.news.com.au\/sport\/afl\/essendon-whipping-boy-ben-mckay-jeered-by-bombers-fans\/news-story\/05971eb82f6cda1ea61bd7d2312b9445\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"www.news.com.au\" data-tgev=\"event119\" data-tgev-container=\"bodylink\" data-tgev-order=\"05971eb82f6cda1ea61bd7d2312b9445\" data-tgev-label=\"sport\" data-tgev-metric=\"ev\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ben McKay<\/a>, who came under fire for a poor performance against Collingwood on Anzac Day, was described as \u201clow on confidence\u201d. The Lions tellingly left the \u201cstrength\u201d comment for McKay blank.<\/p>\n<p>McKay, Archer May and Elijah Tsatas were the three players listed without strengths. <\/p>\n<p>Tsatas, who was <a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.news.com.au\/sport\/afl\/essendon-youngster-tipped-to-request-trade-after-baffling-selection-call\/news-story\/6230001e313dc4e015ed5601ce4d7806\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"www.news.com.au\" data-tgev=\"event119\" data-tgev-container=\"bodylink\" data-tgev-order=\"6230001e313dc4e015ed5601ce4d7806\" data-tgev-label=\"sport\" data-tgev-metric=\"ev\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">a surprise omission<\/a> for the clash against Brisbane, was labelled \u201cfumbly\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Midfielder Darcy Parish, who was managed for the game, was listed as having a tendency to \u201ccough up under pressure\u201d and had a question over his \u201cdefensive transition\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>However strengths were listed for most of the Essendon players, notably forward Nate Caddy\u2019s \u201crun and jump\u201d, rookie Sullivan Robey\u2019s \u201cpower\u201d and Jacob Farrow\u2019s composed kicking.<\/p>\n<p>Lions co-captain Josh Dunkley told Kayo Sports post-game: \u201cIt\u2019s something that happens inside every four walls, strengths of opposition players.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s what we do as footballers, talk about the opposotion <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt probably shouldn\u2019t say weaknesses, it should say growths. That\u2019s the way we do it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI spoke to Jaxon Prior before and after the game, and he\u2019s all good, which is nice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe love \u2018Prirs\u2019, he spent a lot of time at our footy club and it\u2019s good to see him going well for the Bombers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dunkley added: \u201cIt\u2019s obviously disappointing that inside the four walls something\u2019s leaked out of the inner sanctum, but that\u2019s footy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know we\u2019re under the microscope every day and we love to get people in an around the footy club and share that experience. Someone\u2019s obviously got in there and taken a picture. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll learn from the experience and maybe the whiteboard might not be facing that way next time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s something we\u2019ll carry on because it\u2019s great for our young fellas to learn.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"poster-img\" src=\"https:\/\/content.api.news\/v3\/images\/bin\/0f1d89e5144802cbfc03b3e2ec45fb15\" data-sctrack=\"op-poster-img\" alt=\"Dunkley addresses whiteboard leak\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Clark added: \u201cThey\u2019re (Brisbane) are really unhappy. I think it\u2019s part of their normal weekly prep, but never intended for it to go public.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Former West Coast coach Adam Simpson said: \u201cIt\u2019s just not what you need. An welcome controvery you don\u2019t need, even if you\u2019re Brisbane.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just distracting when these things get out.
