A desperate search is continuing for a 75-year-old man living with dementia, after a suspected sighting of him more than three weeks after disappearing from Sydney\u2019s southwest.<\/p>\n
Ivan Jakus, who is also known as John, was last seen at a club on Cowpasture Rd in Leppington about 5.30pm on April 21.<\/p>\n
The elderly man was reported missing after he failed to return to his aged care facility in Casula. <\/p>\n
Inquiries from police revealed the elderly man was seen leaving Leppington Railway Station about 7.30pm Sunday night, and was later seen outside a home on Ramsay Rd in Rossmore about 10pm.<\/p>\n
\u201cPolice and family have serious concerns for Ivan\u2019s welfare as he lives with dementia, requires regular medication and has been missing for several weeks,\u201d a police statement read.<\/p>\n
A multi-agency search involving police, SES and the NSW Rural Fire Service were deployed across the Rossmore area in hopes of finding the man. <\/p>\n
On Saturday May 2 about 11.30am, police received dashcam footage of an elderly man struggling on the median strip of Elizabeth Drive, about 750m southeast of the M7 Motorway in Cecil Hills.<\/p>\n
While police were unable to locate the man at the median strip, they believe it may have been Ivan. <\/p>\n
He has been described as being of caucasian appearance, about 165cm tall, of medium build and with short grey hair. <\/p>\n
He was last seen wearing a white Adidas tshirt, dark navy shorts, white socks and a pair of dark-coloured shoes. <\/p>\n
Police believe Ivan is still travelling on foot around the Leppington area.<\/p>\n
However, because Ivan is \u201cextremely mobile\u201d, they said he may have travelled further. <\/p>\n
