Sydney has shattered winter temperature records for June ahead of a cold front hitting the east.<\/p>\n
Cooler temperatures and ongoing wet conditions will hit parts of Victoria, Queensland and NSW this weekend.<\/p>\n
As the cold front continues to push east, rainfall will continue to blast the eastern states.<\/p>\n
Temperatures continue to drop for the east as the cold front moves over the coast.<\/p>\n
Showers will ease for South Australia on Saturday and the state will enjoy a dry Sunday, as a high pressure system slowly brings warmer and dryer weather to the state.<\/p>\n
Sky News Weather Meteorologist Marina Neuman said western Victoria could expect dry conditions on Saturday evening, but much of the eastern states will see showers “as the cold front pushes away from the eastern coast”.<\/p>\n
“For the east we are looking at ongoing heavy rainfall…which will continue to push east as we go into the weekend bringing additional heavy falls and ongoing cool temperatures,” she said.<\/p>\n
Heading into Sunday some the east can expect additional rainfall while WA will experience “low rainfall totals” on the southern coastline.<\/p>\n
Two weeks of consecutive heat finally came to an end on Friday.<\/p>\n
It comes after Sydney experienced record breaking temperatures in June.<\/p>\n
The Harbour City had its longest run of June days over 20C in almost 170 years as Friday marked the 13th consecutive day above 20C.<\/p>\n
This impressive run of unusually warm winter days beat the previous June record of nine days above 20C in 1919.<\/p>\n
Sydney temperatures will return to the more typical June highs of 17C from Sunday into next week.<\/p>\n
Neuman added the weekend forecast continues to spell disappointment to the country’s skiers.<\/p>\n
“We’re unfortunately looking at the potential for all our accumulated snowfall, early on into the season, to really be washed away,” she said.<\/p>\n
