weather: Temps to drop in the east as rain develops over Queensland on Sunday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A warm start to winter for Australia\u2019s east will come to a close next week, as unseasonably warm temperatures are set to take a tumble.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sydney shattered winter temperature records last week, with the longest run of June days over 20C in almost 170 years \u2013 13 to Friday.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sunday\u00a0in Australia\u2019s most populous city\u00a0is due to remain mostly sunny with a\u00a0high of 20C\u00a0and a low of 11C.<\/p>\n<p>The city will see cooler days after Sunday, with highs expected to remain around 16 and 17C for the week.<\/p>\n<p>Further north, a\u00a0band of rain from central to southeastern Queensland\u00a0is\u00a0expected to develop overnight into Sunday and settle into consistent rainfall\u00a0over the afternoon.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re expecting the afternoon to be fairly wet and gloomy across the southeast coast in particular and some areas just a little way inland,\u201d Sky News Australia meteorologist Rob Sharpe said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The state\u2019s capital\u00a0will get\u00a0reach 22C during the day, with a low of 16C.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Wet weather in eastern Victoria and southern New South Wales will\u00a0contract\u00a0over the\u00a0Sunday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cooler temperatures for Australia\u2019s southeast, however, will endure\u00a0until the new week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The temperatures will aid some\u00a0snow showers\u00a0in the alpine regions, though the general outlook\u00a0for Sunday\u00a0remained \u201cmediocre\u201d,\u00a0Mr\u00a0Sharpe explained.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe cold nights mean that all of the ski resorts will be making as much snow as possible and there are some signs that we may end up with another weather system coming in during the Victorian school holidays in about a week-and-a-half\u2019s time, hopefully one\u2019s cold enough for\u00a0snow, rather than this primarily rain-bearing system,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Further south in Melbourne, a cloudy day is forecast, with the mercury to slide between 9C and 15C.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Adelaide and Canberra will both see tops around 15C and rain on Sunday.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Temperatures in the nation\u2019s capital will sink to 3C, and just 7C in the\u00a0City\u00a0of Churches.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A high-pressure system over South Australia will push wet weather away from Australia\u2019s east coast for the beginning of the week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A large front, however, will hit the west coast on Friday and traverse southern Australia over the weekend, bringing rain to the east by Sunday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mild temperatures\u00a0are expected in Perth\u00a0alongside\u00a0a\u00a0generally cloudy\u00a0forecast\u00a0on Sunday, likely to develop into significant rainfall\u00a0over\u00a0the coming week.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0front will drag weekly expected rainfalls about\u00a030mm\u00a0above average over the week for the west coast.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>North in Darwin, a sunny day
