{"id":36679,"date":"2026-06-23T05:13:25","date_gmt":"2026-06-23T05:13:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/36679\/"},"modified":"2026-06-23T05:13:25","modified_gmt":"2026-06-23T05:13:25","slug":"id-love-it-pauline-hanson-urges-anthony-albanese-to-follow-his-friend-uk-pm-keir-starmer-out-the-door","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/36679\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018I\u2019d love it\u2019: Pauline Hanson urges Anthony Albanese to follow his friend UK PM Keir Starmer out the door"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has urged Anthony Albanese to follow his friend UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer into resignation.<\/p>\n<p>Sir Keir <a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.skynews.com.au\/world-news\/global-affairs\/tv-host-launches-scathing-attack-on-failed-british-prime-minister-sir-keir-starmer-moments-after-emotional-live-resignation\/news-story\/b01600984b0ab93a9116577cd6146c41\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-tgev=\"event119\" data-tgev-container=\"bodylink\" data-tgev-order=\"b01600984b0ab93a9116577cd6146c41\" data-tgev-label=\"world-news\" data-tgev-metric=\"ev\">resigned just two years after winning a supermajority at the 2024 election<\/a>, but saw his support disappear amid policy backflips and immigration concerns.<\/p>\n<p>The parallels between the two centre-left leaders became an attack for Ms Hanson on Tuesday, given Mr Albanese won a supermajority in 2025 and has <a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.skynews.com.au\/australia-news\/politics\/broken-promises-wedge-politics-and-backlash-albanese-hits-record-low-approval-rating-in-exclusive-poll\/news-story\/8249595da5c0748520479ecc659223fe\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-tgev=\"event119\" data-tgev-container=\"bodylink\" data-tgev-order=\"8249595da5c0748520479ecc659223fe\" data-tgev-label=\"australia-news\" data-tgev-metric=\"ev\">seen his popularity slide<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Asked on Tuesday whether Mr Albanese should follow the example of the departing British PM, Ms Hanson said: \u201cI&#8217;d love it, and so would the Australian people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs it&#8217;s proven, I started up \u2018Fire the Liar\u2019 with $4.8 million in funding from the Australian people &#8211; donations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s clear that the people don&#8217;t want Anthony Albanese as the Prime Minister of this country any longer &#8230; We&#8217;ve got an election one and a half years down the track.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms Hanson compared Mr Albanese\u2019s fortunes to Sir Keir&#8217;s, saying the most pressing issue in the UK was \u201cmass migration\u201d and which she said was being mirrored in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe big issue in Britain that I can see is about the mass migration, people coming into the country, people just don&#8217;t feel they&#8217;re British anymore,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur economy is in the toilet actually and I think it&#8217;s a mess, a trillion dollar debt, the government spending is out of control\u2026 So it needs to be changed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sir Keir formally announced his resignation on Monday, saying he had listened to members of the Labour Party questioning whether he was the right person to lead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have heard the answer and I accept that answer with good grace. I will resign as leader of the Labour Party,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Albanese paid a warm tribute to his British counterpart, describing him as a friend, after attending a Labour Party conference with Sir Keir in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI consider Keir Starmer a friend and I&#8217;m thinking of him on what must be a very tough day,\u201d Mr Albanese said on X.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cServing in public life is a tremendous privilege but politics can also be a harsh business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen the time comes for Keir to leave Downing Street, he can be proud of the contribution he has made to the country he loves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Albanese had previously warned the UK against the changing leaders before Sir Keir&#8217;s resignation, telling Sky News it would be a bad idea.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI must say that the history of just changing leaders is not a positive one.
