Christopher Nolan\u2019s breakthrough second feature introduced the narrative sleight of hand, obsessive structure and temporal gymnastics that would come to define his blockbuster era. Now, in a new collaboration between Arts Centre Melbourne and Melbourne International Film Festival, the film is reimagined as an immersive audiovisual performance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 font-serif text-base\">At the centre is drummer Michael \u201cCavs\u201d Cavanagh of King Gizzard &amp; the Lizard Wizard, performing solo\u00a0across multiple drum kits and a suite of electronic instruments.\u00a0His score mirrors Leonard Shelby\u2019s fractured memory with rhythmic loops, sudden ruptures and mechanical precision that reflect the film\u2019s collapsing sense of time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 font-serif text-base\">Presented as part of<a target=\"_blank\" class=\"inline cursor-pointer border-b border-current pb-0 transition duration-100 hover:border-dotted\" href=\"https:\/\/www.broadsheet.com.au\/national\/travel\/article\/tasmania-hobart-south-winter-guide\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> Hear My Eyes<\/a>\u2019 ongoing series of expanded cinema events, the performance continues the program\u2019s decade-long exploration of cult and genre films re-scored by contemporary artists.
