{"id":37743,"date":"2026-06-24T19:10:10","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T19:10:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/37743\/"},"modified":"2026-06-24T19:10:10","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T19:10:10","slug":"you-should-not-be-making-mistakes-pauline-hanson-scolds-farley-after-mining-vote","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/37743\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;You should not be making mistakes&#8217;: Pauline Hanson scolds Farley after mining vote"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pauline Hanson says she served the freshly-minted Farrer MP an earful after his vote on a fuel tax credit bill amendment sparked immediate industry backlash.<\/p>\n<p>David Farley\u00a0sided with Greens and\u00a0teal MPs in a division to cap fuel tax credit rebates for large mining companies in the lower house before it was defeated by Labor and the Coalition.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The amendment angered the Minerals Council of Australia\u00a0(MCA)\u00a0before\u00a0One Nation scrambled to\u00a0clarify their position and\u00a0<a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.skynews.com.au\/australia-news\/politics\/farley-blames-inexperience-sought-to-undo-votes-after-siding-with-greens-and-teals-on-key-motions\/news-story\/6b1ad0c30b13131d73367ff3703485fa\" data-tgev=\"event119\" data-tgev-container=\"bodylink\" data-tgev-order=\"6b1ad0c30b13131d73367ff3703485fa\" data-tgev-label=\"australia-news\" data-tgev-metric=\"ev\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mr Farley blamed the saga on inexperience<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ms Hanson on Wednesday night told Sky News Australia she told\u00a0Mr\u00a0Farley \u201cyou should not be making a mistake\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has made some\u00a0previous\u00a0mistakes, and\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0not going to deny\u00a0that,\u00a0I will own\u00a0it,\u201d she said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI said to David, I said, \u2018this is the problem\u2019,\u00a0I said, \u2018I\u2019ve worked 30 years to get here to stand up and fight for the Australian people\u2019.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I said, \u2018your performance in there is going to reflect on me and the One Nation, my members here that\u00a0we\u2019ve\u00a0worked so hard to\u00a0represent\u00a0the Australian people, do you understand what\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0saying?\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe said, \u2018Pauline, I\u2019m orange\u2019,\u00a0he said, \u2018I agree with all your policies\u2019,\u00a0and he said it was a mistake, and so anyway, I can\u2019t say any more than that.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mr\u00a0Farley issued a statement through the party on Wednesday evening saying he had sought to correct his vote after the fact but could\u00a0not, and\u00a0pointed to One Nation\u2019s \u201coverworked\u201d advisors.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ms\u00a0Hanson backed his position, saying Parliament was a \u201cbloody robust\u201d place.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact is,\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0got no staff in his office. Barnaby [Joyce] is not around.\u00a0We\u2019ve\u00a0tried to have our meetings of the morning to guide them through,\u00a0because\u00a0the upper and the lower house, you\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0have connection with them,\u201d she\u00a0said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re\u00a0not perfect, when you\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0have the resources, I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0have the resources in my office.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI said, \u2018David, next week I will actually give you one of the staff out\u00a0of\u00a0my office or out of the other Senators to try and help you get through next week.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mr Farley\u2019s rogue vote came after he\u00a0<a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.skynews.com.au\/australia-news\/politics\/pauline-hanson-distances-herself-from-one-nation-mp-david-farley-over-indigenous-flags-in-electorate-office\/news-story\/00e45cf08a8eeb5b5271ba627adb8243\" data-tgev=\"event119\" data-tgev-container=\"bodylink\" data-tgev-order=\"00e45cf08a8eeb5b5271ba627adb8243\" data-tgev-label=\"australia-news\" data-tgev-metric=\"ev\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">split\u00a0with official One Nation policies on a few occasions<\/a>\u00a0since becoming a representative of the party.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mr\u00a0Farley also voted alongside Greens and\u00a0teals on a failed motion, raised by\u00a0Kooyong\u00a0MP Monique Ryan, to pursue\u00a0further\u00a0gambling reforms.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His vote on the fuel tax cap drew immediate condemnation from the MCA\u2019s chief executive, Tania Constable.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She said his position was \u201creally disappointing\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDavid Farley is a regional member and it was his first big opportunity to show what he\u2019s made of, and he voted against regional Australia,\u201d she told Sky News Australia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe voted against the farmers, the fishers, the\u00a0construction industry. He voted against the miners.
