{"id":37859,"date":"2026-06-24T23:12:18","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T23:12:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/37859\/"},"modified":"2026-06-24T23:12:18","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T23:12:18","slug":"joondalup-health-campus-expands-stroke-care-services-with-new-nurse-practitioner-roles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/37859\/","title":{"rendered":"Joondalup Health Campus expands stroke care services with new nurse practitioner roles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">Stroke patients in Perth\u2019s northern suburbs now have greater access to specialist support with a WA-first stroke care model launched at Joondalup Health Campus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">The hospital has appointed two permanent nurse practitioners to its stroke ward to improve access to more timely and greater stroke clinical expertise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">In Australia, nurse practitioners are required to complete a master\u2019s degree, at least 5000 hours of advanced clinical practice and be endorsed by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">Professor Kevin O\u2019Connor, JHC deputy director of medical services, said the move was a landmark moment for the hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cThis is an important milestone for JHC and the local community that will support early diagnosis, secondary prevention and assist with stroke education and research,\u201d Professor O\u2019Connor said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cThe introduction of NP-led outpatient clinics will also improve access to timely follow-up care and help reduce delays for patients awaiting outpatient review.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/6944edc7d2674c7ce91e47a3df54a7a29ee41524.jpg\" alt=\"Specialist stroke care in Perth\u2019s north has received a boost with Joondalup Health Campus appointing dedicated nurse practitioners to the ward.\" class=\"css-16r7l45-StyledImage en5ut4d0\"\/>Camera IconSpecialist stroke care in Perth\u2019s north has received a boost with Joondalup Health Campus appointing dedicated nurse practitioners to the ward.
