According to The Guardian, the studio’s chief executive, Thomas Avison, recently returned from Los Angeles, where he met with major production companies, including Netflix and Disney, to promote the new facility.

The studio, located in Whiteman, boasts four expansive sound stages and is designed to support both traditional filming and advanced virtual production techniques. The construction, funded by state taxpayers, cost approximately $233.5 million, with an additional $57 million allocated for operational support over the next decade. The goal is to increase Western Australia’s share of scripted screen production from 1% to 10% within ten years.

Currently, production is underway for the six-part mystery-thriller “Two Birds,” which employs over 100 local cast and crew members and is expected to contribute more than $17 million to the state’s economy. Avison acknowledges that while the studio’s opening production may not be a blockbuster, it is essential for building credibility in a market dominated by established eastern states.

In addition to “Two Birds,” the first Netflix series filmed in Western Australia, titled “Breakers,” is also in production, marking a significant milestone for the region. However, Avison highlights the challenges faced by the state, including a shortage of trained personnel and specialized equipment, which can hinder larger productions.

Industry leaders, including Matthew Deaner from Screen Producers Australia, emphasize that attracting productions is only part of the equation; the real success will be measured by the lasting capabilities developed within the local industry. As Perth Film Studios starts its journey, the focus remains on nurturing a sustainable screen ecosystem that can support both large and small projects.

Arabic version: استوديوهات بيرث السينمائية تطلق طموحات لجذب هوليوود Perth Film Studios, a $290 million project built on…

[7
31764,3371,335,31765,31766,353
post-38533","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-perth","tag-film-industry","tag-hollywood","tag-perth","tag-perth-film-studios","tag-two-birds","tag-western-australia
["GET
