Year 9 is a pivotal and exciting phase in a student\u2019s education, a year designed to ignite their curiosity, build their confidence, and empower them to shape their own learning journey. The academy\u2019s innovative Synergy program transforms learning by taking students into the heart of Melbourne one day each week. The city becomes their classroom as they explore real-world issues, collaborate with industry professionals, and develop the skills to contribute to a better future for themselves and their community.<\/p>\n
Students experience hands-on research, creative problem-solving and expert mentorship, and tackle meaningful questions and learn how to present, work in teams and think outside the box.<\/p>\n

EXCELLENCE IN LEARNING
In 2024, the academy introduced Educate for Excellence \u2013 our model for learning and wellbeing. Using evidence-based instructional strategies, this model creates a culture where students flourish. It strives to develop curious, collaborative and courageous students by combining approaches to learning and wellbeing to develop the whole person.<\/p>\n
OUR HERITAGE
The academy is a unique blend of the historic and the contemporary. Our position on the edge of the CBD intrinsically links us to the history of Melbourne and what continues to happen within the city and surrounds. <\/p>\n
BELONGING FROM DAY ONE
The Year 7 Transition program, including our Big Sister\/Little Sister peer mentoring initiative, ensures new students feel genuinely welcomed and supported from day one. Each Year 7 is paired with a Year 12 student who shares information and advice about the years ahead, creating meaningful connections across year levels.<\/p>\n
THE CITY IS OUR CLASSROOM
The Year 9 Synergy program demonstrates our incredible connection with the city, where students exchanged the classroom for Melbourne\u2019s CBD one day each week. In Year 10, students continue this connection through Community Action and Work Experience to prepare for VCE and beyond.<\/p>\n
WELLBEING AT THE CORE
The academy\u2019s wellbeing program focuses on the whole person, building resilience, self-esteem, social and emotional skills, and a strong sense of belonging. Students have access to a college counsellor, peer support programs and wellbeing support for families at home.<\/p>\n
