{"id":40215,"date":"2026-06-28T22:00:07","date_gmt":"2026-06-28T22:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/40215\/"},"modified":"2026-06-28T22:00:07","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T22:00:07","slug":"queensland-set-for-brief-warm-up-before-weekend-cold-snap-returns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/40215\/","title":{"rendered":"Queensland set for brief warm-up before weekend cold snap returns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Queensland can expect a short reprieve from chilly conditions by the end of the week, before a cold snap returns, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Senior forecaster Shane Kennedy said after a chilly weekend interrupted by some showers across south-east Queensland, temperatures should rise slightly this week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;It should warm up just a little bit more over the next few days, just ahead of a trough system that will arrive late in the week,&#8221; Mr Kennedy said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">He said average temperatures in the low 20s were expected in southern Queensland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;We should start moving back up more into the mid-20s through southern and south-eastern Queensland later this week,&#8221; Mr Kennedy said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;Those overnight temperatures will get a bit warmer as well as we tick over into a new month.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Central Queensland can expect averages of about the 25-degree Celsius mark, with the Far North West seeing temperatures in the low 30s.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Drone shot of road into Longreach. \" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/446c15a589e99e7934cab0a80cb34223.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Longreach is around 690 kilometres from Rockhampton.\u00a0 (ABC Western Qld: Jay Carstens)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Cloudy conditions with some scattered showers are forecast for south-east Queensland, before sunnier conditions return from Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Mostly dry conditions are expected further inland, but there is a high chance of showers around Longreach tomorrow, with up to 5 millimetres possible.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Partly cloudy conditions should persist in Far North and Central Queensland, with scattered showers along the coast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">But Mr Kennedy said a &#8220;short-lived&#8221; cold snap should return on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;No big winter blast on the way at this stage but [it] could certainly get a little warmer late on this week before cooling down again next weekend,&#8221;
