Police are investigating multiple suspicious fires in Melbourne overnight, while they say an attack on a well-known Prahran nightclub may have been interrupted.<\/p>\n

Victoria Police said offenders rammed the entrance of the Electric Bar with a white Mercedes about 5.40am.<\/p>\n

Police said it appeared the offenders may have been disturbed by someone and fled the scene.<\/p>\n

The bar was left smelling strongly of petrol and jerry cans could be seen on the stairs inside the bar.<\/p>\n

An hour earlier, just a block away from the bar, police arrested five people in an allegedly stolen car in which two jerry cans full of petrol were also found.<\/p>\n

Officers from the Public Order Response Team who were on patrol in relation to recent hospitality arsons spotted two people in hoodies in Greville Street.<\/p>\n

The officers followed them to St Edmonds Road, where they approached a Mazda CX9 with three more people inside.<\/p>\n

The vehicle was confirmed as stolen and had false number plates.<\/p>\n

Police arrested four males, three of whom were aged 16 and one aged 19, and a woman aged 20.<\/p>\n

Investigators say, at this stage, the arrests are not being treated as linked to the incident at Electric Bar but will be reviewed in relation to the current series of hospitality arsons.<\/p>\n

A family was forced to evacuate their house in Caulfield North after a suspicious fire. (ABC News)<\/p>\n

Earlier in the evening, emergency crews were called to a house fire in Caulfield North to find a double-storey home and two cars well alight.<\/p>\n

A family inside the home escaped unhurt<\/p>\n

The fire at the house in Matlock Court started shortly before midnight.<\/p>\n

Victoria Police said the fire had been deemed suspicious and a crime scene has been established.<\/p>\n

A vehicle was driven into the kebab shop and a fire was started inside. (ABC News)<\/p>\n

Police are also investigating a suspicious fire at a kebab shop at Tullamarine.<\/p>\n

Fire crews were called to the shop about 4.30am to find a car had been driven through the front of the shop.<\/p>\n

Victoria Police said a fire was then started inside the shop and the offenders fled the scene.<\/p>\n
