{"id":40561,"date":"2026-06-29T05:21:07","date_gmt":"2026-06-29T05:21:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/40561\/"},"modified":"2026-06-29T05:21:07","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T05:21:07","slug":"teenagers-charged-after-alleged-crime-spree-in-melbournes-south","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/40561\/","title":{"rendered":"Teenagers charged after alleged crime spree in Melbourne&#8217;s south"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Two teenagers have been charged with multiple offences after two armed robberies in Melbourne&#8217;s southern suburbs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The pair are alleged to have embarked on a crime spree on Sunday that saw them rob fellow teens in Frankston and Cranbourne.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Police say a 16-year-old boy has been charged with three counts of armed robbery and theft of a motor vehicle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">A 17-year-old boy has been charged with three counts of armed robbery, theft of a motor vehicle and dangerous driving.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">A 13-year-old boy was interviewed by detectives and released pending further investigation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">It is alleged that the teenagers pulled up to a bus stop in a stolen Toyota on Young Street in Frankston at about 9:50am.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">They threatened a teenage boy with a knife and stole the victim&#8217;s puffer jacket, police allege.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2026-06-18\/victoria-crime-statistics\/106812188\" data-component=\"FullBleedLink\" class=\"RelatedCard_link__rsgR9 FullBleedLink_root__lTw_U interactive_focusContext__yRhc_ interactive_defaults__AKxUU FullBleedLink_showVisited__g3Xvz\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Victorian crime statistics<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP RelatedCard_synopsis__cFwMW Typography_sizeMobile14__u7TGe Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Figures for the year to the end of March show youth crime fell by 6 per cent in Victoria, but adult crime rose by around 10 per cent.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">A short time later, the teenagers drove the car to a bus stop on High Street in Cranbourne.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Police say they got out of the car wearing ski masks and approached two teenagers, with one of them holding a knife.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">They allegedly forced the victims to hand over their shoes and clothing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Soon after, police arrested the teenagers after spotting the Toyota and following the car to Dandenong.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">They apprehended the teenagers in a shopping centre car park near Dandenong Railway Station.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;Detectives, Highway Patrol officers and uniform police members descended on the area, arrested three male teens nearby, alleged to be the Toyota\u2019s occupants,&#8221; Acting Sergeant Paul Hogan said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Victoria Police&#8217;s State Command Control Centre and Southern Metro Crime Squad worked together to apprehend the alleged offenders.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The arrests came after statistics released earlier this month showed that youth crime in Victoria fell for the first time in four years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">It has dropped by 6 per cent for the year to March, but adult crime rose by 10 per cent, according to the Crime Statistics Agency.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Victoria Police says crime is still &#8220;unacceptably high&#8221;, with a jump of 26 per cent over the past three years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Investigators allege the Toyota was stolen from a Noble Park address over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The teenagers were both remanded to appear before a children&#8217;s court at a later date.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Two teenagers have been charged with multiple offences after two armed robberies in Melbourne&#8217;s southern suburbs.
