The comments prompted an angry response from Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who said Australia has \u201cnever been a monocultural society\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201c(Multicultural) is who we are, so it\u2019s really a nonsense argument to go back to something that was actually never there,\u201d Mr Albanese said in response.<\/p>\n
Asked about Ms Hanson\u2019s polling popularity, Mr Albanese said: \u201cWe have seen the rise of populist right-wing parties throughout the Western world.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Sky News Pulse shows One Nation’s appeal extends beyond its core base, with 39 per cent of all voters open to voting for Ms Hanson’s party.<\/p>\n
Forty-one per cent said they would seriously consider voting Labor, while 30 per cent said they would consider voting for the Coalition and 23 per cent nominated the Greens.<\/p>\n
Despite Labor trailing One Nation on voting intention in the survey, Mr Albanese maintained a lead as preferred prime minister.<\/p>\n
Forty-four per cent of respondents nominated Mr Albanese as their preferred prime minister compared with 35 per cent for Opposition Leader Angus Taylor.<\/p>\n
In a separate head-to-head contest, Mr Albanese led Ms Hanson by 49 per cent to 40 per cent.<\/p>\n
Mr Albanese recorded a net satisfaction rating of -21 per cent, with 36 per cent satisfied and 57 per cent dissatisfied.<\/p>\n
Mr Taylor recorded a net satisfaction rating of -11 , with 36 per cent satisfied and 47 per cent dissatisfied.<\/p>\n
Mr Taylor delivered the Coalition its worst poll result since the Sky News Pulse began, below levels seen under former opposition leader Sussan Ley.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In February 2026, he said that the Liberal Party needed \u201cstrong leadership, clear direction and a relentless and courageous focus on our values\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Liberal Party is at the worst position it has been since 1944, when the party was formed. That is a confronting reality and we cannot ignore it,\u201d Mr Taylor said in February.<\/p>\n
At the time, the Coalition was polling around 20 per cent, with Ms Ley\u2019s approval ratings deeply negative at -40.<\/p>\n
The Coalition has now recorded a primary vote of 17 per cent, while Mr Taylor’s approval ratings sit at -11.<\/p>\n
Since the 2025 federal election, the Coalition has lost 46 per cent of its voters to One Nation and four per cent to Labor.<\/p>\n
One Nation has led the primary vote among both men, women, older voters and also working-class voters.<\/p>\n
A dominant 37 per cent of people who identified as working class said they would vote One Nation, compared to 25 per cent who said Labor.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, 54 per cent of working-class voters said their financial situation had deteriorated in the past three months.<\/p>\n
Thirty-nine per cent of all voters reported being worse off, while 49 per cent said there had been no change.<\/p>\n
