{"id":41513,"date":"2026-06-30T12:11:12","date_gmt":"2026-06-30T12:11:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/41513\/"},"modified":"2026-06-30T12:11:12","modified_gmt":"2026-06-30T12:11:12","slug":"one-nation-records-historic-result-in-latest-poll-since-hansons-monoculture-call-despite-albanese-rejecting-it-as-nonsense-argument","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/41513\/","title":{"rendered":"One Nation records historic result in latest poll since Hanson\u2019s \u2018monoculture\u2019 call, despite Albanese rejecting it as \u2018nonsense argument\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One Nation has hit a record high primary vote as it maintains its lead as the most popular political party in the country in the most recent national poll following Pauline Hanson&#8217;s calls for Australia to embrace a \u201cmonoculture\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The party posted its strongest-ever primary vote in the latest Sky News Pulse \/ YouGov poll since Ms <a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.skynews.com.au\/australia-news\/politics\/albanese-says-australia-was-never-monocultural-after-hanson-declares-nation-cannot-be-multicultural\/news-story\/e8bdbc31f4a4d6fcbab1f8363b732509?utm_source=SkyNews&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Editorial&amp;utm_content=SN_DAILY_PM_01&amp;net_sub_id=396230745&amp;type=curated_collection&amp;position=1\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-tgev=\"event119\" data-tgev-container=\"bodylink\" data-tgev-order=\"e8bdbc31f4a4d6fcbab1f8363b732509\" data-tgev-label=\"australia-news\" data-tgev-metric=\"ev\">Hanson ignited debate over multiculturalism<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The poll, conducted from June 23-30, showed One Nation on 30 per cent of the primary vote, ahead of Labor on 29 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>The Coalition recorded its worst result since polling began with just 17 per cent of the primary vote, followed by the Greens on 13 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>Despite trailing One Nation on the primary vote, Labor would comfortably retain government, leading the Coalition and One Nation 54-46 on a two-party-preferred basis.<\/p>\n<p>The results come after Ms Hanson sparked intense debate over national identity during her <a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.skynews.com.au\/australia-news\/politics\/one-nation-leader-pauline-hanson-faces-journalists-in-first-ever-appearance-at-national-press-club\/news-story\/8552a29bf7687dbb802532e1dc1e4291\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-tgev=\"event119\" data-tgev-container=\"bodylink\" data-tgev-order=\"8552a29bf7687dbb802532e1dc1e4291\" data-tgev-label=\"australia-news\" data-tgev-metric=\"ev\">National Press Club address<\/a>, where she called for a monocultural society.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are a multi-racial society, but we must be monocultural. Australians must live under the one cultural umbrella,\u201d Ms Hanson said at the time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The comments prompted an angry response from Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who said Australia has \u201cnever been a monocultural society\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c(Multicultural) is who we are, so it\u2019s really a nonsense argument to go back to something that was actually never there,\u201d Mr Albanese said in response.<\/p>\n<p>Asked about Ms Hanson\u2019s polling popularity, Mr Albanese said: \u201cWe have seen the rise of populist right-wing parties throughout the Western world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"poster-img\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/b193caa0b02bcfb1945d885160236541.jpeg\" data-sctrack=\"op-poster-img\" alt=\"IN FULL: Pauline Hanson delivers first National Press Club address after 30 years in politics\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The Sky News Pulse shows One Nation&#8217;s appeal extends beyond its core base, with 39 per cent of all voters open to voting for Ms Hanson&#8217;s party.<\/p>\n<p>Forty-one per cent said they would seriously consider voting Labor, while 30 per cent said they would consider voting for the Coalition and 23 per cent nominated the Greens.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Labor trailing One Nation on voting intention in the survey, Mr Albanese maintained a lead as preferred prime minister.<\/p>\n<p>Forty-four per cent of respondents nominated Mr Albanese as their preferred prime minister compared with 35 per cent for Opposition Leader Angus Taylor.<\/p>\n<p>In a separate head-to-head contest, Mr Albanese led Ms Hanson by 49 per cent to 40 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Albanese recorded a net satisfaction rating of -21 per cent, with 36 per cent satisfied and 57 per cent dissatisfied.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Taylor recorded a net satisfaction rating of -11 , with 36 per cent satisfied and 47 per cent dissatisfied.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Taylor delivered the Coalition its worst poll result since the Sky News Pulse began, below levels seen under former opposition leader Sussan Ley.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In February 2026, he said that the Liberal Party needed \u201cstrong leadership, clear direction and a relentless and courageous focus on our values\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Liberal Party is at the worst position it has been since 1944, when the party was formed.
