Adelaide City Council has imposed restrictions on an event this weekend held by a university society after an unrelated party angered locals over noise levels.<\/p>\n

The Adelaide Medical Students\u2019 Society will hold its annual President\u2019s Keg event at Estonian Hall in North Adelaide on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

The university society revealed the event will be strictly limited to 350 attendees, following a request by Adelaide City Council. <\/p>\n

Event organisers also shared a number of self-imposed rules to ensure event festivities run smoothly, including no alcohol outside the hall, no smoking, vaping or drugs allowed, <\/p>\n

\u201cHarassment and assault of any kind, including sexual, physical, and verbal will result in immediate action and appropriate follow-up by the AMSS,\u201d the post read.<\/p>\n

The Adelaide Medical Students\u2019 Society said the rules by Adelaide City Council came after an unrelated event in North Adelaide held by St Ann\u2019s College. <\/a><\/p>\n

Security guards will also be in attendance to ensure partygoers are abiding by the rules, and have been authorised to refuse entry to any overly-intoxicated attendees. <\/p>\n

\u201cBreaching the rules constitutes breaking the law, and threatens the longevity of the AMSS as a society,\u201d the post read. <\/p>\n

\u201cHence we are taking this very seriously and will be forced to turn away people if there are already 350 people inside the venue at that time. <\/p>\n

\u201cFrom the bottom on our hearts, we sincerely apologise for this unfortunate news, and hope you can understand that this is out of our control.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adelaide Medical Students Society withheld further details about the event, which was accessible only via a valid log in on the society\u2019s website. <\/p>\n

Adelaide City Council said the event was capped at 350 attendees because of the venue\u2019s floor space, number of toilets and previous event numbers. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe limitation of 350 people for the event followed council\u2019s standard review for a private event seeking a short-term liquor licence from Consumer and Business Services,\u201d a spokesman said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe applicant sought permission for 400 people but, based on the internal floor area, number of toilets and previous events held at the venue, 350 was deemed to be more appropriate.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was discussed with the applicant who has raised no concerns at any time about the capacity limit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last month, St Ann\u2019s College\u2019s sold-out \u2018Boon the Valley\u2019 took place from 8pm to midnight featuring a line-up of live bands and DJ sets for its 199 students. <\/p>\n

St Ann\u2019s College told residents the event was approved by Adelaide City Council, which the council denied.<\/p>\n

Local residents later demanded an apology, saying they were pummelled by noise exceeding 100 decibels from its annual Open Show event. <\/p>\n
