(Supplied)<\/p>\n<p>Likely source found<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">On Monday a spokesperson for the Australian Space Agency said the objects had been recovered and were considered to be safe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;The recovered objects appear to be pressure vessels from a space launch vehicle,&#8221; the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;The Agency has identified the likely source \u2014 objects&#8217; location and characteristics are consistent with debris from a foreign rocket body that recently re-entered the atmosphere from orbit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;The Agency is continuing to engage with international authorities to formally confirm the launch vehicle and launching state.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The Space Agency said it was advising Queensland authorities as well as the National Emergency Management Agency on the incident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">It warned further potentially hazardous debris may be found.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;Never touch, move, or recover suspected space debris and assume it to be hazardous \u2014 move away and contact emergency services.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Woman sits at desk\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/5f1d8ec53898c1543f8ce8c3c8e34b7a.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Flinders University Associate Professor Alice Gorman researches space junk.
