<\/p>\nPolice are searching for a person who has fatally stabbed a 36-year-old man at Taree on the New South Wales Mid North Coast.<\/p>\n
Officers were called shortly before 5am today to a home at Ronald Road, Taree, where they found a man who had been stabbed.<\/p>\n
The man, who has not been formally identified, was treated by police officers and NSW Ambulance paramedics, but died at the scene.<\/p>\n

The Manning Great Lakes police district commander, Superintendent Grant Erickson, said an investigation was underway with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, under Strike Force Hexalon.<\/p>\n
He said two crime scenes had been established, at the home and at another location on Ronald Road, which were being examined by specialist forensic investigators.<\/p>\n
“Evidence obtained from the scene would indicate there is two crime scenes,” he said.<\/p>\n
“We have teams of detectives on scene and also canvassing the surrounding areas at this stage.”<\/p>\n
Superintendent Erickson would not confirm if the man was at home alone.<\/p>\n
“At this stage we have witnesses who have come forward, and they are being spoken to by police at this stage, I’ll just leave it at that,” he said.<\/p>\n
He said the victim was not known to police and it was unclear if it was a targeted attack.<\/p>\n
“This investigation is very early and it would be remiss of me to speculate at this time,” he said.<\/p>\n
“At this stage, the offender is unknown.”<\/p>\n
Anyone with information about the incident, or who was in the Ronald Road area between 4:30am and 5am on June 6 with dashcam footage, is urged to contact Taree Police or Crime Stoppers.<\/p>\n
