Police are investigating two suspicious house fires that started just minutes apart in neighbouring suburbs, in Melbourne’s north.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to a property in Morecambe Crescent, Keilor Downs, about 2:45am to reports of a house on fire.<\/p>\n

Fire Rescue Victoria said more than 20 firefighters worked on the blaze at the single-storey brick house.<\/p>\n

Nobody was home at the time of the fire, which was brought under control in about 30 minutes.<\/p>\n

Victoria Police said the fire was suspicious and caused significant damage to the property.<\/p>\n

An investigation into the fire is ongoing.<\/p>\n

Fire crews were called to a house fire at Keilor Downs, in Melbourne’s north overnight. (ABC News)<\/p>\n

Just 15 minutes after the Keilor Downs fire was reported, fire crews were called to a property in Taylors Lakes, less than two kilometres away.<\/p>\n

Fire Rescue Victoria said two cars in a carport at the property in Pindari Avenue were on fire when crews arrived, and the blaze had spread to the house.<\/p>\n

Three people inside the house at the time of the fire evacuated and were not hurt.<\/p>\n

Firefighters were able to stop the blaze from spreading to nearby houses.<\/p>\n

Victoria Police said the fire was suspicious and an investigation is underway.<\/p>\n

Police said they were not treating the fires as linked at this stage.<\/p>\n
