A Perth local\u2019s run to the bottle shop has ended in them performing a dramatic citizen\u2019s arrest after watching an embarrassing attempted car theft unfold.<\/p>\n

Adam Breen was in the checkout of Dan Murphy\u2019s in Carine, picking up some drinks for his birthday party, when he watched a \u201csketchy\u201d looking individual bolt out of the shops carrying allegedly stolen drinks.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s that easy is it?\u201d Breen said to another patron in-line.<\/p>\n

As staff and customers watched the man in hi-vis clothing run out the store towards the car park, another person in the shop stated: \u201cthat\u2019s the guy in the (allegedly) stolen car\u201d<\/p>\n

Intrigued by the absurd situation, Breen decided the drinks could wait as he wanted to record the alleged thief.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve walked outside then obviously seen him jump in the car, no licence plate, no nothing and I just was like \u2018this is classic\u2019,\u201d Breen told PerthNow.<\/p>\n

Recording the attempted getaway, Breen watched in hysterics as the man tried to speed off with the handbrakes still on.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re joking me . . . You are taking the piss,\u201d he said in the viral recording.<\/p>\n

The beat-up Mazda\u2019s swift getaway attempt was short lived.<\/p>\n

Making it on to the main road before the driver got out of the car to investigate why the back wheels wouldn\u2019t cooperate.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s jumped out and yelled this car\u2019s f..ked or something,\u201d Breen said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s when I said, \u2018I reckon the handbrakes might be on\u2019, and he\u2019s had something of a eureka moment, and I thought \u2018f… maybe I shouldn\u2019t of said that\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the light bulb revelation, the alleged car jacker decided to ditch the Mazda and try his hand at alleged nabbing a new car.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s when Breen decided enough was enough.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was trying to leg it and I said \u2018Oh you won\u2019t outrun me\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

The dramatic chase ended in heroic take down with the Carine man restraining him until police arrived.<\/p>\n

Not before the alleged thief managed to headbutt Breen and leave him with a black eye for his efforts.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe cherry on top was he s..t himself, he soiled his pants,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was very glad to see the police pull up, because I was worried the squeeze I had on him was going to inject some of that out of his pants.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was like \u2018oh look at your eye\u2019, and I was like \u2018mate check your pants\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Breen managed to make it to his party with no dramas, but received some questionable looks for his shiner.<\/p>\n

Footage of Breen\u2019s escapade has since been uploaded to social media and gone viral, with locals praising his brave efforts.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomebody buy this guy a few beers for me please,\u201d one comment said.<\/p>\n

\u201cDoing god\u2019s work. Streets are safer thanks to you, lad,\u201d another wrote.<\/p>\n
