An Aussie family who lost more than $42,000 following the collapse of a tiny home company have had their hope restored in a surprising act of kindness<\/a>. Dozens of families have been left in the lurch after Brisbane company My Little House fell into administration<\/a> last month. <\/p>\n

Paul and Kristene Bowley had spent months planning to build a granny flat<\/a> in their backyard for their son, Sean, who lives with an intellectual disability. The Nambour couple had paid deposits and extra costs to My Little House before it entered voluntary administration<\/a> on June 15. <\/p>\n

So when the tiny home they paid for never arrived, the couple were left both emotionally and financially devastated, having taken out a $25,000 loan to fund the granny flat<\/a> and now out of pocket more than $42,000. <\/p>\n

The couple’s story caught the attention of national provider Homes and Granny Flats, who reached out and offered a free replacement home to the couple. <\/p>\n

“When we saw their story, we couldn’t just sit back and do nothing,” Homes and Granny Flats managing director Christopher Sarkis said. <\/p>\n

The family was offered a 20 foot portable expander home. <\/p>\n

“This wasn’t about a failed project; this was about a family trying to build a better future for their son,” Sarkis said. <\/p>\n

“They had done everything right and were left in an incredibly difficult position. We wanted to give them certainty again and help restore some hope.” <\/p>\n

The home was delivered by crane and fully installed at the family’s Sunshine Coast property on Tuesday. <\/p>\n

“We felt incredibly grateful for the generosity and kindness and to be able to see the joy again in Sean’s face that he was actually getting his house, is a memory that will hold a place in our hearts,” the couple said. <\/p>\n

My Little House and Container Domes and Shelters, owned by Liberty Oz Pty Ltd, were both placed in administration in June. <\/p>\n

The company’s warehouse and website have now been closed. <\/p>\n

The Bowley’s are one of many Aussie families who have been left blindsided by the tiny home business collapse. <\/p>\n

Sunshine Coast couple Kerrie and Brendan Carney bought a tiny home for the 24-year-old daughter from My Little House.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
