{"id":52424,"date":"2026-07-17T05:34:12","date_gmt":"2026-07-17T05:34:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/52424\/"},"modified":"2026-07-17T05:34:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-17T05:34:12","slug":"lachie-perrem-wakes-from-coma-after-robot-vacuum-explosion-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/52424\/","title":{"rendered":"Lachie Perrem wakes from coma after robot vacuum explosion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man has woken from an induced coma weeks after a robotic vacuum cleaner exploded inside his Perth home, leaving him with critical injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Lachie Perrem, 25, was in the kitchen of his Brabham home about 5pm on July 2 when a robot vacuum exploded. <\/p>\n<p>The 25-year-old, who lives with his fiancee and housemates, was rushed to Fiona Stanley Hospital in a critical condition. <\/p>\n<p>He sustained burns to 75 per cent of his body and required multiple surgeries before being placed in an induced coma. <\/p>\n<p>Two weeks after the horrific injuries, his family have confirmed he has woken from his induced coma and undergone a third round of surgery. <\/p>\n<p>In a GoFundMe update, mum Fiona said the 25-year-old woke from his coma last week and \u201cstarted communicating with me, his fiancee, and his medical team\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>She while Mr Perrem\u2019s voice wasn\u2019t back to normal, \u201che is finding other ways to communicate, and seeing him awake has brought us so much hope\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Mr Perrem underwent a third round of surgery to remove damaged tissue from his fingers, left elbow and torso. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery surgery is another step forward in his recovery,\u201d Fiona wrote. <\/p>\n<p>She said Tuesday was a \u201cspecial milestone\u201d for the family, as Mr Perrem was able to go outside into the hospital courtyard and \u201cenjoy some fresh air\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt may seem like a small thing, but moments like these mean so much,\u201d Fiona said. <\/p>\n<p>She said her son was making progress every day and the family were \u201cincredibly grateful for each improvement and for the ongoing support, kindness and prayers from everyone\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Images obtained by 7News showed the aftermath of the explosion.
