A low-pressure system in the Tasman Sea is forecast to generate large waves and dangerous surf conditions along the east coast this weekend, the Bureau of Meteorology says.<\/p>\n
A hazardous surf warning has been issued for the Gold Coast, Byron and Coffs coastlines advising people to stay out of the water and avoid walking near surf-exposed areas.<\/p>\n
Boaters were told to consider changing or delaying any voyages across shallow water and ocean bars, and people already on the water to make sure they had safety equipment and wear lifejackets.<\/p>\n
Rock fishers were also warned to avoid ocean exposed rock platforms along the coast and seek safe locations sheltered from the surf.<\/p>\n
Bureau of Meteorology Meteorologist Ilana Cherny said there was a risk coastlines would be damaged by the huge surf.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll also continue to see some shower activity and some gustier conditions in this region,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Isolated showers are expected up the Queensland coast while inland regions will be dry and sunny on Saturday, with Brisbane reaching 23C.<\/p>\n
NSW will have a foggy start to the weekend and experience similar conditions across the state, Sydney\u2019s forecast for a top of 19C.<\/p>\n
Canberra will wake to a freezing start to the day followed by a sunny day reaching 16C.<\/p>\n
Victoria will be cloudy in the north with temperatures in the east above average, a mostly sunny day is forecast for Melbourne at a top of 16C.<\/p>\n
Adelaide will have a frosty start before the fog clears reaching a top of 18C.<\/p>\n
Western Australia will be in for a wet start to the weekend as a cold front moves eastwards. Showers are forecast in Perth on Saturday morning, reaching a top of 18C.<\/p>\n
