One Nation MP Barnaby Joyce distanced himself from Mr Roberts<\/a>\u00a0after the re-emergence of the Senator\u2019s 2024 interview with Jones \u2013 whose past claims include that the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre was a hoax.<\/p>\nMr Joyce on Tuesday told Sky News host Laura Jayes he was \u201cnot going to carpet\u201d Mr Roberts over his praise of Jones.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think these are questions for Malcolm to answer on your show,\u201d Mr Joyce said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI do not believe for one second that Sandy Hook was a false flag, obviously nor was Bondi, and I don’t believe that the United States is a terrorist organisation.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe do in One Nation give people the liberty to state their views and Malcolm’s stating his and he’s entitled to do that.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut … just because one member of One Nation says something, it doesn’t mean it’s policy, just like any member of the backbench in the Labor Party.\u201d<\/p>\n
Pressed further about his colleague\u2019s praise of Jones, Mr Joyce said he was \u201cnot going to go into some sort of personal affray\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I’m just going to state quite clearly that these issues are not as One Nation sees them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mr Roberts began his interview with Jones in 2024 by telling the conspiracy theorist: \u201cThank you so much for what you\u2019ve been doing\u201d.<\/p>\n
He then called the US government a \u201cterrorist organisation\u201d and thanked Jones again as their conversation concluded, calling him a \u201cbeacon of hope around the world\u201d.<\/p>\n
In May this year, Mr Roberts was asked by YouTuber Lisa Jane Spencer if he thought last year\u2019s Bondi massacre was a \u201cfalse flag\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI haven\u2019t got the evidence. I doubt whether it was [a] false flag,\u201d he responded.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou asked me if I thought it was a false flag. If I make a statement, it\u2019s got to be backed by fact. I don\u2019t have the facts yet. I\u2019m not ruling it out. You notice that?\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Roberts was asked why he did not rule out the attack being a false flag during a press conference in May.<\/p>\n
\u201cFirst of all, it\u2019s an absurd proposition,\u201d Mr Roberts said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSecond thing is that I reinforce the fact that I make decisions and statements based on data, and I don\u2019t have data.\u201d<\/p>\n
On Saturday, the ABC reported that Mr Roberts previously claimed that half of pregnant women who received vaccinations against Covid-19 had experienced a miscarriage.<\/p>\n
