{"id":53046,"date":"2026-07-18T06:02:20","date_gmt":"2026-07-18T06:02:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/53046\/"},"modified":"2026-07-18T06:02:20","modified_gmt":"2026-07-18T06:02:20","slug":"footscray-high-school-locked-down-after-armed-man-seen-nearby","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/53046\/","title":{"rendered":"Footscray High School locked down after armed man seen nearby"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man has been charged after a Melbourne high school was sent into lock down after an armed man was seen lurking about an abandoned building nearby.<\/p>\n<p>Police barricaded a premises on Barkly St in Footscray, in Melbourne\u2019s west, after a man was reportedly seen with a knife and gun about 2.15pm on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Officers tried to talk with a 44-year-old man for 90 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOfficers attended and attempted to negotiate with the man, who allegedly became aggressive,\u201d Victoria Police said on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is alleged the man shot ball bearings towards police, causing damage to windows.
