{"id":53706,"date":"2026-07-19T12:28:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-19T12:28:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/53706\/"},"modified":"2026-07-19T12:28:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-19T12:28:08","slug":"socceroos-keeper-patrick-beach-leaves-melbourne-city-for-france-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/53706\/","title":{"rendered":"Socceroos keeper Patrick Beach leaves Melbourne City for France"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Socceroos goalkeeper Patrick Beach has signed a five-year deal with French club Troyes.<\/p>\n<p>Melbourne City confirmed on Sunday night that the 22-year-old gloveman \u2013 who displaced Socceroos captain Mat Ryan at the FIFA World Cup to become Australia\u2019s first-choice custodian \u2013 would be leaving the two-time A-League champions for an \u201cundisclosed fee\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPatrick\u2019s journey at Melbourne City is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when talent is matched with hard work, resilience and the right environment,\u201d City\u2019s director of football Michael Petrillo said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom the day he arrived, Patrick embraced every challenge. Nothing was handed to him and he earned every opportunity through his commitment to improving every day. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re incredibly proud that the environment we\u2019ve built at Melbourne City has helped support Patrick\u2019s development from one of Australia\u2019s brightest young goalkeepers into an A-League champion, Socceroo, Australia\u2019s first-choice goalkeeper at the FIFA World Cup and now a player who has earned the opportunity to continue his career in France\u2019s Ligue 1. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cPatrick leaves with our sincere thanks for everything he has contributed to the club. He\u2019s been an outstanding representative of Melbourne City both on and off the pitch, and we wish him every success in the next chapter of his career.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Beach, who made 64 appearances in all competitions for City, said his time at the Melbourne club had \u201cshaped\u201d him as a \u201cplayer and as a person\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis club has given me the opportunity to challenge myself every day, improve my game and ultimately fulfil my dream of representing the Socceroos and Australia at the FIFA World Cup \u2013 I\u2019ll always be incredibly grateful for that,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy teammates, coaches and all of the staff have played such an important role in my journey, and I\u2019ll leave with friendships and memories that I\u2019ll carry with me forever.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWinning the (2024-25 A-League) championship at AAMI Park and celebrating with our fans are moments I\u2019ll never forget. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to thank everyone involved at Melbourne City for the support they\u2019ve shown me from the moment I arrived.
