{"id":53746,"date":"2026-07-19T14:24:18","date_gmt":"2026-07-19T14:24:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/53746\/"},"modified":"2026-07-19T14:24:18","modified_gmt":"2026-07-19T14:24:18","slug":"queensland-teen-tyler-calleja-who-was-fighting-for-life-after-fall-from-gold-coast-apartment-building-now-in-a-stable-condition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/53746\/","title":{"rendered":"Queensland teen Tyler Calleja who was fighting for life after fall from Gold Coast apartment building now in a stable condition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Central Queensland teenager who was left fighting for his life after falling from a Gold Coast apartment building is now in a stable condition.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.skynews.com.au\/lifestyle\/trending\/teenager-tyler-calleja-fighting-for-life-after-falling-from-gold-coast-apartment-complex-hours-after-completing-half-marathon\/news-story\/943fe34b5d1baaa2ec72d1c69a558b6e\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-tgev=\"event119\" data-tgev-container=\"bodylink\" data-tgev-order=\"943fe34b5d1baaa2ec72d1c69a558b6e\" data-tgev-label=\"lifestyle\" data-tgev-metric=\"ev\">Tyler Calleja, 18, was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital<\/a> in early July after he was found unconscious by a maintenance worker in the apartment complex.<\/p>\n<p>He sustained significant head and abdominal injuries and was taken to the hospital in \u201ca potentially life-threatening condition\u201d, NewsWire reported at the time of the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Gold Coast University has now confirmed that the teenager has been upgraded to a stable condition, reports the Courier Mail.<\/p>\n<p>The passionate runner had completed a half marathon 24-hours before the fall.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A police spokesperson said Calleja was trying to gain entry into the building when he fell into the car park below.<\/p>\n<p>Queensland Police Superintendent Kylie Rigg said it was &#8220;remarkable&#8221; the 18-year-old had survived such an impact during a press conference following the incident, according to the Gold Coast Bulletin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe see falls all the time from buildings, and the result is quite tragic. So for him to have survived that is quite remarkable,\u201d Ms Rigg said.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/helping-tyler-through-recovery?attribution_id=sl:2a3cf42d-4e25-4e4b-ae63-cfbb2ee93cbe&amp;lang=en_US&amp;ts=1783397076&amp;utm_campaign=man_ss_icons&amp;utm_content=amp20_t1&amp;utm_medium=customer&amp;utm_source=copy_link\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">A GoFundMe page<\/a> was set up after the incident to support Calleja and his family to help cover medical costs and has raised more than $100,000 as of Sunday afternoon.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the days following the harrowing fall, the GoFundMe organiser said that the teenager was still receiving critical care and the road ahead remains &#8220;uncertain&#8221;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is currently receiving care on the Gold Coast, surrounded by the love and support of his family,\u201d the GoFundMe page wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany in our community know Tyler as someone always willing to lend a hand.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Through his involvement in local sport, fundraising and community events, he\u2019s always been there for others.
