Adelaide will challenge Darcy Fogarty\u2019s three-match ban for striking for an incident which fellow Crow Taylor Walker said left him \u201cconfused\u201d at the outcome.<\/p>\n
Fogarty was hit with the suspension by the MRO for his swinging arm in a tackle on Sydney\u2019s Harry Cunningham that left the Swan concussed. <\/p>\n
It was graded as careless conduct, severe impact and high contact. <\/p>\n
The Crows confirmed on Monday they will challenge the ban in the hope of getting it downgraded and even having Fogarty playing in their Thursday night blockbuster against Collingwood at Adelaide Oval.<\/p>\n
Darcy Fogarty was banned for this incident on Friday night<\/p>\n
\u201cWe just don\u2019t think three weeks is warranted, there is a bit to play out,\u201d Crows senior assistant Scott Burns said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will do the best we can to make sure Fog can play on Thursday night.\u201d <\/p>\n
On Monday, Walker told Channel Seven he was confused at Fogarty\u2019s suspension.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a tall forward you are told you have to play with a presence and insert yourself on the game,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I know there was no intention, no malice in that tackle.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo you stand here as a player quite confused as to what the outcome may be.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo yeah I feel for Fog, he\u2019s in great form and is helping us win games of footy.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is very tough as a player.\u201d <\/p>\n
Fogarty starred for the Crows in their big win over the Swans at the SCG, kicking three of his four goals in the final term as Adelaide produced a fourth quarter for the ages.<\/p>\n
It continued his strong form of late, which Burns said also contributed to the Crows challenging the suspension.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s been pretty happy with his form over the last four to five weeks so it is disappointing from that aspect,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s up and running at the moment, so hopefully can continue that form and play Thursday night.\u201d<\/p>\n
If the Crows can\u2019t get Fogarty off, it opens the door for star Walker to slot right into the forward line after he was managed for the win over the Swans. <\/p>\n
\u201cYeah there is that opportunity,\u201d Burns said. <\/p>\n
\u201cHe had nine shots on goal two weeks earlier so he\u2019s in a bit of form Tex. <\/p>\n
