Brisbane has been blanketed by thick fog, creating havoc for motorists and causing flight disruptions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Brisbane Airport announced four inbound flights had been diverted to the Gold Coast and one to Sydney on Thursday following foggy conditions that morning.<\/p>\n
\u201cBrisbane Airport is currently experiencing thick fog across the precinct,\u201d the airport said in a statement shortly after 7am.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Later the airport said visibility was \u201cimproving\u201d.<\/p>\n
A road weather alert has also been issued by the Bureau of Meteorology for people in parts of Brisbane.<\/p>\n
Qantas flights due to land in Brisbane that were diverted include flight QF016 from Los Angeles, flight QFA98 from Manila and flight QFA52 from Singapore.<\/p>\n
Virgin Australia flight VA446 from Darwin and Jetstar Airways flight JQ965 from Perth were also diverted.<\/p>\n
Multiple international flights are also set to experience delayed arrivals.<\/p>\n
A Brisbane Airport spokesperson told SkyNews.com.au that there were no cancellations for departing flights.<\/p>\n
“Visibility is now improving across the airport,” they said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Lanes have been blocked on Gympie Road at Carseldine in the city’s north following a multi-vehicle crash, according to QLD Traffic.<\/p>\n
Traffic has also been affected on the Warrego Highway at Riverview after a single-vehicle crash.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A Queensland Police spokesperson said officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Klumpp Road and the Mains Road exit.<\/p>\n
“One vehicle was on its roof,” the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
Minor injuries were reported and the vehicles involved have been removed from the scene.<\/p>\n
The Warrego Highway has also been cleared following a two-vehicle crash, the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
No injuries were reported from the incident.<\/p>\n
