A nurse will front court accused<\/a> of accessing and downloading medical records of patients.<\/p>\n

Police received a report on Wednesday that the data had been downloaded by a NSW Health<\/a> employee without authorisation.<\/p>\n

Investigators executed a search warrant at a home in Frenchs Forest, North Sydney<\/a>, the following night and seized \u201cseveral electronic devices\u201d.<\/p>\n

It will be alleged the devices contained \u201cdetails of patients\u201d and a 59-year-old man was arrested.<\/p>\n

The employee of the Northern Sydney Local Health District was later charged with accessing restricted data held on a computer.<\/p>\n

He was granted conditional bail and is expected to appear before Manly Local Court<\/a> on August 19.<\/p>\n

NSW Police\u2019s Cybercrime Squad Commander, \u00a0Detective Superintendent Matt Craft, said detectives \u201cacted swiftly to seize the devices and recover the data\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cInitial inquiries indicate the data \u2014 while (allegedly) being accessed illegally \u2014 appears to have been contained to the individual,\u201d Craft said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIncidents such as this alleged access represent a clear breach of professional and community trust, and it will be treated with the utmost seriousness.\u201d<\/p>\n

Investigations remain ongoing and anyone with information has been urged to contact police<\/a>.<\/p>\n
