In the space of a week, former chairman of Wesfarmers Bob Every and his wife Sheryl sold their Elizabeth Bay waterfront apartment for $22m and bought a Potts Point penthouse for $13m.<\/p>\n

Both deals were negotiated by Jason Boon, the Richardson & Wrench gun, and James Agostini of Agostini Property Buyers, Dr Every\u2019s vendor and buyer\u2019s advocate.<\/p>\n

Agostini says his client is pretty chuffed.<\/p>\n

Dr Every, AO, has offloaded the 300sqm single-level garden apartment in the BKH-designed 28 Billyard Ave, bought off the plan for $4.4m in 2001, for $22m.<\/p>\n

And promptly downsized to Sydney to Hobart winner Matt Allen\u2019s pad in the Dorchester, listed with $15.5m+ hopes in February <\/a>via Boon and his colleague, Geoff Cox, for $13m.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s very excited about the Dorchester,\u201d says Agostini.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey live three months in Perth, followed by three months in Sydney, so the Dorchester, which is close to the cafes and restaurants of Potts Point, will be perfect.\u201d<\/p>\n

The snappy exchanges of a few weeks ago were two of the few big deals in Sydney\u2019s east in what\u2019s been a very dry July, apart from Seek co-founder Paul Bassat\u2019s purchase in Gladswood Gardens, Double Bay for just under $20m at the start of the month via Elliott Placks and Thomas Popple of Ray White Double Bay, and another for a similar price at 16 Kings Rd via Ray White\u2019s Ashley Bierman.<\/p>\n

One source confided it\u2019s been particularly woeful for off-the-plan sellers in the Potts Point area.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere hasn\u2019t been a single off-the-plan apartment sale in Potts Point for six weeks,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Most of the top agents, of course, have been partying in Europe. Some are promising to be back on August 1.<\/p>\n

Boon\u2019s $22m sale for the single-level garden unit at 28 Billyard Ave follows his $28m sale for the double-storey garden unit next door <\/a>last November.<\/p>\n

That was Elizabeth Bay\u2019s highest sale, followed by Matt Allen\u2019s purchase in the Billyard Ave development at 29 Billyard Ave for just under that.<\/p>\n
