Brisbane\u2019s House of the Year is a sculptural masterpiece that feels less like a suburban home and more like a private Mediterranean resort.<\/p>\n

Named after the coastal town of Dromolaxia and steeped in its builders\u2019 deep Greek heritage, the Holland Park West property is the work of Batspac founders and brothers Mati and Peter Batsinilas, who are quietly turning a leafy southern pocket of the city into their own European playground.<\/p>\n

The duo dominated the 2026 Master Builders Brisbane Housing & Construction Awards, taking home the prestigious Xact Accounting House of the Year award along with wins for Best Residential Bathroom, Best Residential Pool, and Best Individual Home ($2.5 million to $3 million).<\/p>\n

\u201cStanding inside this stunning home, our judges felt transported to Greece \u2013 fulfilling the vision of Mediterranean warmth fused with contemporary Australian luxury,\u201d the judging panel noted.<\/p>\n

\u201cBatspac were praised for the degree of difficulty in executing the curves and angles throughout the home.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe meticulous tiling work was also a standout, mitred and epoxy-joined by hand for a seamless finish, while the workmanship in the kitchen exceeded expectations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Unfolding behind a striking facade of white render and black vertical cladding, the home\u2019s dramatic cantilevered forms are supported by bold V-shaped columns.<\/p>\n

Inside, slabs of heavily veined green marble against stark charcoal cabinetry define the showstopping kitchen. But the ultimate flex is the glass partition that turns a silver supercar in the adjacent garage into an interactive gallery display.<\/p>\n

An outdoor entertaining terrace sits beneath the home\u2019s central living zones, positioned for maximum light but also designed as a breezy retreat from the summer heat, while sharp LED lighting lines the pool\u2019s modern arch.<\/p>\n

Judges noted the collaboration between the builder and designer Zaheer Esat in producing the dream home, cementing Batspac\u2019s reputation for bringing Mediterranean aesthetics to the River City.<\/p>\n

The boutique builder previously constructed the viral sensation Gr\u00e8ce, another spectacular Holland Park home built for fitness entrepreneur Georgio Batsinilas (co-founder of FitazFK) and his wife Thessy, the powerhouse behind fashion label SABO Skirt.<\/p>\n

Beyond the residential glamour, Brisbane\u2019s commercial titans were also honoured as a sellout crowd packed the Convention & Exhibition Centre.<\/p>\n

Master Builders CEO and awards ambassador Sue-Ann Fresneda said the quality of work in this year\u2019s line-up was exceptional.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt a time when our industry continues to navigate cost pressures, workforce shortages and ongoing market challenges, the quality of this year\u2019s entries was nothing short of remarkable,\u201d Ms Fresneda said. <\/p>\n

\u201cFrom stunning homes to world-class schools, hospitals and community infrastructure, our builders and tradies continue to push the boundaries of what\u2019s possible, setting new benchmarks for construction quality, liveability and sustainability.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lendlease claimed the Professional Certification Group Project of the Year for the Glasshouse Theatre.<\/p>\n

Judges couldn\u2019t look past the venue\u2019s undulating rippled facade, praising Lendlease for overcoming \u201cevery possible level of difficulty\u201d to deliver the new 1500-seat landmark.<\/p>\n

Industry heavyweights Hutchinson Builders walked away with five gongs, with third-year carpenter Bailey Caplick awarded Apprentice of the Year for his maturity and proactive approach.<\/p>\n

Allen Brothers Construction secured the sought-after President\u2019s Award for exceptional craftsmanship on a Brisbane riverside residence, while CPB Contractors\u2019 Anastasia Little won the Women in Building Award.<\/p>\n

Luxury residential builder Ethan Inglis of Ryer Projects was applauded as this year\u2019s Rising Star.<\/p>\n
