A man is fighting for life after an alleged assault at a Logan short-stay property descended into chaos, leaving a home damaged, multiple cars wrecked and an entire street locked down for much of Sunday.<\/p>\n
Emergency crews were called to Discovery Blvd at Bahrs Scrub at 2.16am on Sunday after reports of what police described as a \u201clarge disturbance involving a group of people\u201d.<\/p>\n
By the time officers arrived, the aftermath stretched across the street. <\/p>\n
In a statement, police said they got to the scene within eight minutes and found \u201csignificant damage had been caused to a number of vehicles on the street, as well as damage to a residence\u201d.<\/p>\n
The property is believed to have been operating as a short-stay accommodation, with nearby residents saying a party had been underway before violence broke out.<\/p>\n
As the scene unravelled, police said some of those involved had already scattered. <\/p>\n
\u201cAs members of the group fled the scene, officers were alerted to a 21-year-old Redbank Plains man having been located nearby on Orchard Ave with significant head injuries,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n
The injured man was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition, where he remained on Sunday night.<\/p>\n
Residents reported seeing disorder spill through the estate, with some stating they believed two groups had been involved.<\/p>\n
Neighbours also described hooning before people fled the area on foot and in damaged vehicles.<\/p>\n
Footage from CCTV appears to show a man running away from the scene down the street at about 2.47am.<\/p>\n
Police and forensic officers remained on Discovery Blvd through Sunday as they examined the damage and gathered evidence. <\/p>\n
Several vehicles were left with smashed windows and dents, while a nearby home also suffered shattered windows. <\/p>\n
Neighbours said they believed the front of the house had been badly damaged and the interior ransacked.<\/p>\n
SES crews also searched nearby parkland as part of the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n
