Sydney FC Head Coach Patrick Kisnorbo believes Wednesday night\u2019s Sydney Super Cup clash with English Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur will provide the perfect benchmark for his squad as preparations continue for the 2026-27 Isuzu UTE A-League season.<\/p>\n

The Sky Blues welcome one of world football\u2019s biggest clubs to Sydney in a blockbuster encounter, giving players the rare opportunity to measure themselves against elite international opposition.<\/p>\n

For Kisnorbo, the occasion is about far more than the result.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a great learning for everybody involved,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe players will see the level they could be up against. It\u2019s a great hit-out for us and a great opportunity to compare where we\u2019re at at this stage of pre-season.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s great for our sport that we can play against the best teams, the best players and one of the best coaches in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

The match also marks a different chapter for Kisnorbo after taking charge at the end of last season, guiding Sydney FC to the Isuzu UTE A-League Grand Final.<\/p>\n

This time, the Head Coach has enjoyed a full pre-season to implement his ideas from day one.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I came in, I needed to get the team into the finals,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow I\u2019ve got the preparation time to build the team into the season. They\u2019re two different scenarios, but the outcome we want is still the same.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Kisnorbo acknowledged there could still be movement in the transfer market before the new campaign begins, he is pleased with the commitment shown by the current squad.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere could be some movement soon, but at the moment we have the players we have and they\u2019ve been training fantastically well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll only bring in players that we think are useful and good characters for our team.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former Socceroo believes facing Tottenham will challenge every aspect of his players\u2019 game.<\/p>\n

Defender Jordan Courtney-Perkins is equally excited by the opportunity, describing the fixture as a unique experience for the squad.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been working really hard throughout pre-season and it\u2019s a great chance to get more match minutes into the legs, but also to put ourselves up against the best and see where we\u2019re at.\u201d<\/p>\n

Courtney-Perkins is looking to build on a strong finish to last season after forcing his way back into the starting side during Sydney FC\u2019s run to the Grand Final.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love being at Sydney,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was probably an up-and-down season personally, but the most important thing for me is to keep my head down, work hard and help the team in any way I can.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhether that\u2019s starting, coming off the bench or wherever I\u2019m needed, I just want to keep improving.\u201d<\/p>\n

Having featured at both left back and centre back throughout his career, the versatile defender admits he feels most at home in the middle of defence but remains ready to play wherever required.<\/p>\n

\u201cGrowing up I always said I was a centre back,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s funny because I spent the first 70-odd games of my career playing left back.<\/p>\n

\u201cI enjoy playing centre half, but wherever the coach thinks I\u2019m best suited, I\u2019m happy to play.\u201d<\/p>\n

With anticipation building for one of the biggest fixtures in Sydney FC\u2019s pre-season, the Sky Blues will relish the chance to test themselves against world-class opposition before turning their focus towards another A-League campaign.<\/p>\n
