Perth\u2019s urban forest continues to branch out, with more than 30 free community events in the City of Perth this month designed to connect people with nature and support a greener city.<\/p>\n
The activities are part of the city\u2019s fourth annual Tree Month, which aims to raise awareness of the importance of preserving and growing Perth\u2019s urban forest while encouraging the community to take practical action.<\/p>\n
The city is home to 43 parks spanning 116ha located along the Swan River and neighbouring Kings Park<\/p>\n
As part of Tree Month, the city will plant 60 trees and more than 3500 plants across key locations, including Matagarup (Heirisson Island) and Arden Hill Reserve.<\/p>\n
Planting events will also be held in partnership with Mercedes College and Trinity College.<\/p>\n
Nearly 1000 trees and plants were planted across the city in last year\u2019s Tree Month.<\/p>\n
Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds said Tree Month had an important role in creating a more sustainable and liveable city.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis month-long program highlights the importance of protecting and expanding our tree canopy, while encouraging people to take simple steps towards more sustainable living,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe 2026 program offers a diverse range of activities designed to help people connect with nature, including community planting days, kids\u2019 nature play, educational workshops, stories in the park and yoga under the trees, as well as organic growing sessions and sound meditation.\u201d<\/p>\n
