(Supplied: Australian Federal Police)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Mr Ebelebe was a National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) employee, and is currently on bail.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">AFP said the pair&#8217;s company claimed more than $28 million of NDIA funding, with about $18 million of the claims &#8220;identified as allegedly suspicious&#8221;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Ms Ebelebe has been charged with five offences \u2014 two of which are Commonwealth charges \u2014 including one count of corruption, one count of dishonestly obtaining NDIS information and one count of dishonestly obtaining a gain from the NDIA.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">NT Children and Families Department chief executive officer Brent Warren said the department had cooperated fully with the investigation.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Front-on shot of white man, pale blue shirt, and bright blue striped tie, sitting at long white desk, inside high-rise office\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/91f2363e390f92769acb069a6b9cdc28.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Brent Warren is the chief executive of the NT&#8217;s Department of Children and Families. (ABC News: Tristan Hooft)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;As soon as we were aware of the allegations, we acted immediately,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;The former staff member has since resigned from the department.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Mr Warren added that the department had reviewed the relevant referrals to &#8220;ensure appropriate processes were followed, and children and families received the support they needed&#8221;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have acted on the findings and strengthened our systems and practices for managing conflicts of interest and overseeing and approving supports for children in care with disability,&#8221;  he said.Bail granted to care for children<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Ms Ebelebe appeared before the Darwin Local Court in custody today, before being granted bail on strict conditions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Ms Ebelebe&#8217;s lawyer, Tom Clelland, told the court prosecutors would allege his client was the lesser participant and Mr Ebelebe, who was present in court, was the primary offender.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Mr Clelland also told the court Ms Ebelebe was the mother of four children aged between four and 12.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;Her eldest child has significant disability, she is the primary carer for that child,&#8221; and &#8220;concerning&#8221; to the court and the community.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;Despite that, given the matters will have a lengthy period before they are determined, as well as the voluminous amount of material \u2026 it&#8217;s better for you to be in the community so you can take care of your children,&#8221;
