The family of a woman stabbed by her partner \u2013 who then caused a horrific head-on crash which killed a nurse in Tasmania \u2013 have shared horrific details surrounding the tragedy.<\/p>\n
Mother-of-two Elaine Gee, 39, was driving north along the West Tamar Hwy near Legana last Friday, when a blue Skoda crossed into her lane and crashed head-on into her Nissan Navara.<\/p>\n
She died in hospital days after the crash while the male driver, 42, died at the scene.<\/p>\n
Investigators have said the man was fleeing the scene of a domestic violence-related stabbing in Exeter before the crash, where he had left a woman with \u201cserious stab wounds\u201d.<\/p>\n
In a statement released through her official Facebook page, Tasmanian MP Jess Greene shed more details on the horrific circumstances of the woman\u2019s stabbing and the \u201ctraumatic events\u201d endured by the woman\u2019s daughters.<\/p>\n
Identified as \u201cSarah\u201d, she remains in hospital recovering from serious injuries.<\/p>\n
The statement, penned by her sister and brother-in-law, Coby and Adam Gore, details how the family have been \u201coverwhelmed\u201d by the \u201cmessages of support, kindness and offers of assistance\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cHer family is profoundly grateful she survived, but she faces a long physical and emotional recovery,\u201d the letter, shared by the Bass MP, states.<\/p>\n
\u201cSarah\u2019s two young daughters were exposed to traumatic events no child should ever have to experience.<\/p>\n
\u201cTheir safety, wellbeing and recovery remain the family\u2019s highest priority.\u201d<\/p>\n
Both girls are being cared for by Coby and Adam at their home in West Tamar while Sarah recovers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe girls have previously lived with Coby and Adam in Tasmania and are returning to a home where they are surrounded by people they know, trust and love,\u201d Ms Greene\u2019s post continued.<\/p>\n
The family also paid tribute to Ms Gee, remembering her as a \u201cbeloved wife, mother, friend and dedicated nurse whose death has left an immeasurable void\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey extend their deepest sympathies to Elaine\u2019s husband Rodney, her children, extended family, friends and colleagues. Their profound loss remains in everyone\u2019s thoughts during this incredibly difficult time,\u201d Ms Greene continued.<\/p>\n
\u201cLike many families impacted by family violence, the immediate focus is not on the circumstances that led to these events, but on helping victim-survivors heal and ensuring children have the safety, stability and support they need.<\/p>\n
\u201cFamily violence does not only affect the person who is injured.<\/p>\n
\u201cIts impacts are felt by children, families, friends, workplaces, emergency responders and entire communities, and its consequences can be lifelong.<\/p>\n
