{"id":61577,"date":"2026-07-30T08:33:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-30T08:33:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/61577\/"},"modified":"2026-07-30T08:33:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-30T08:33:08","slug":"evidence-against-jefferson-lewis-for-alleged-murder-of-kumanjayi-little-baby-outlined-in-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/61577\/","title":{"rendered":"Evidence against Jefferson Lewis for alleged murder of Kumanjayi Little Baby outlined in court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">An Alice Springs court has heard the evidence against a man accused of murdering five-year-old Kumanjayi Little Baby on the outskirts of the Northern Territory town is so extensive the case had to be adjourned until December.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Jefferson Lewis, 47, was charged in May with the five-year-old girl&#8217;s murder following a manhunt that ended after five days, hours after her remains were found.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Mr Lewis is also facing two other charges that cannot be disclosed for legal reasons and the case returned to the Alice Springs Local Court this afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Prosecutor Patrick Williams said 76 witness statements and 48 pieces of footage, including from police body-worn cameras as well as drone and CCTV video, had been received so far.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Patrick Williams walks into court wearing a suit and tie with sunglasses, he has a beard and short, light-coloured hair.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/b15dd27ec4586c7c123f62fe8134ef91.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Patrick Williams says more evidence is still expected to come in within days.
