A dog has been put down after attacking a young girl at a Bunnings in Victoria\u2019s west. <\/p>\n
The girl was bitten on the lower leg at a Bunnings in Delacombe, a suburb southwest of Ballarat, about 11.10am on Wednesday. <\/p>\n
Advanced Life Support paramedics treated the girl, who was taken to Ballarat Hospital in a stable condition. <\/p>\n
A Bunnings spokesman confirmed the incident occurred at the Delacombe store and would support an investigation into the incident. <\/p>\n
\u201cOur thoughts are with the young girl and her family following an incident at our store,\u201d they told NewsWire.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe understand the child was bitten by a dog and was treated by emergency services before being taken to hospital for further assessment and treatment.<\/p>\n

City of Ballarat director of development and growth Natalie Robertson said the council attended the Bunnings store and had launched an investigation into the dog attack. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe City of Ballarat can confirm it attended a dog attack incident in Delacombe on Wednesday morning involving a dog and a young girl,\u201d Ms Robertson told NewsWire. <\/p>\n
She confirmed the dog had been euthanised with permission from its owners. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe dog was voluntarily surrendered by its owners for euthanasia, which took place on Wednesday afternoon,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe City of Ballarat will conduct a thorough investigation and is unable to comment further while that process is under way.\u201d <\/p>\n
