furniture shop to become Western Sydney school"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A staple of Cabramatta has been sold, making way for a new school in the area as part of an $15m-plus deal. <\/p>\n<p>The business at the property, Brescia Furniture at 119-121 Cabramatta Rd, has been in operation since 1961. <\/p>\n<p>It has been held by the Brescia family for more than 60 years, since founder Antonio Brescia migrated from Italy and established what would become a leading retailer of premium imported Italian furnishings in Western Sydney.<\/p>\n<p>The site of the family business has been sold to Warakirri College \u2013 an independent secondary school for students aged 15-22 who have disconnected from mainstream education pathways \u2013 for a price over $15m. <\/p>\n<p>A development application has been approved by Fairfield City Council for the conversion of the site into a Cabramatta campus, with the project holding an estimated capital investment value of with Fairfield Council to \u201csupport young people seeking a positive future\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want our students to learn about the values of courage, resilience and contribution which Brescia family in the sale of their \u201ciconic property\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were able to secure the right buyer in Warakirri College, whose vision for the site aligns strongly with the future needs of the Cabramatta community,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe transition from a longstanding retail use to an education facility is a significant and positive outcome for the area. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis sale is also one of the largest commercial transactions in Cabramatta\u2019s history following the $31.3m sale of the Commonwealth Bank building in 2025, further highlighting the
