worker critical after alleged teen attack at Hampshire Rd shop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A retail worker is fighting for his life after he was allegedly attacked by a group of teenage shoplifters in another shocking incident in Melbourne. <\/p>\n<p>Two employees of a store confronted the group of four teenagers who were allegedly stealing items on Hampshire Rd just after 2pm on Saturday. <\/p>\n<p>The teenagers, aged between 13 and 15-years-old, became involved in a physical altercation with one of the employees outside the store. <\/p>\n<p>The staff member, a 60-year-old man, was left with serious injuries and taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition. <\/p>\n<p>His condition remains critical, according to a Royal Melbourne Hospital spokeswoman. <\/p>\n<p>Police arrested two boys ages 13 and 15 from the Brimbank area in relation to the assault. <\/p>\n<p>They also arrested a 14-year-old girl from Banyule and a 15-year-old girl also from Brimbank. <\/p>\n<p>Police said the teens are yet to be interviewed by detectives.<\/p>\n<p>The incident comes just days after new Victorian Premier Ben Carroll used his first press conference to outline a new policy focused on retail worker safety.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Carroll, who started his working life as a Kmart worker, announced the introduction of Workplace Protection Orders, which are designed to protect retail and service industry workers from customers with violent or abusive tendencies.<\/p>\n<p>WPOs will function similarly to AVOs, and will \u201cban or limit people\u2019s access to
