Triple Eight star Broc Feeney has continued his form fightback, backing up from his Saturday win to claim a drought-breaking pole position for Sunday\u2019s final leg at the Perth Super440.<\/p>\n
After snapping the Ford squad\u2019s longest podium drought in 20 years in Saturday\u2019s second 50-lap sprint at Wanneroo Raceway, Feeney outpaced his rivals in the top 10 shootout to put his Mustang on pole for Sunday\u2019s 200km finale.<\/p>\n
Having earlier set a 53.645 qualifying lap record, Feeney pipped Tickford Racing\u2019s Cam Waters by 0.055sec in the shootout to claim his fourth pole of the season and his first pole since the final race in Tasmania in May.<\/p>\n
Grove Racing\u2019s championship leader Matt Payne, who claimed both Saturday poles, Walkinshaw TWG Racing\u2019s Ryan Wood and Dick Johnson Racing\u2019s Brodie Kostecki rounded out the top five.<\/p>\n
Feeney said it was a great feeling to be fighting up the front again.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m chuffed. I can\u2019t thank this team enough, the turnaround this weekend has been fantastic,\u201d Feeney said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was a bit nervous for the shootout again, it\u2019s been a while since I\u2019ve been competitive and it\u2019s just great to be on pole again.<\/p>\n
\u201cI wasn\u2019t sure how I was going to handle on this tyre today, but I think it probably brings out a few strengths of ours.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to it. There are a lot of fast cars up the front, I think it is going to be a pretty exciting race. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just so good to be back fighting up the front again. I\u2019ve been working hard and to finally get rewarded for that is a great feeling.\u201d <\/p>\n
Anton De Pasquale, James Golding, Thomas Randle, Aaron Cameron and David Reynolds made up the rest of the top 10. <\/p>\n
While Feeney put his car on pole, it was a different story for his teammate Will Brown, who will start from 19th on the grid after a qualifying shocker.<\/p>\n
Brown offered no excuses for the result, saying his car was just \u201cnot fast enough\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s the end of the day. Nothing happened. We\u2019re just not quick enough,\u201d Brown said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll have a look at it and go from there.<\/p>\n
\u201cPretty average. We\u2019re a tenth off down the straight just compared to Broc. That puts us in.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is what it is.\u201d<\/p>\n
