{"id":64359,"date":"2026-08-03T21:53:26","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T21:53:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/64359\/"},"modified":"2026-08-03T21:53:26","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T21:53:26","slug":"pauline-hanson-mobbed-by-protesters-at-one-nation-victoria-launch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/64359\/","title":{"rendered":"Pauline Hanson mobbed by protesters at One Nation Victoria launch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Protesters hurled abuse at Pauline Hanson at a Hawthorn pub on Monday night, just hours after One Nation launched its Victorian election campaign by only announcing seven candidates and releasing no detailed policies.<\/p>\n<p>As Senator Hanson arrived at the Tower Hotel, dozens of protesters screamed \u201cracists out\u201d and waved signs declaring \u201csmash racism anti-colonialism class war 4 liberation\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>A heavy police presence blocked off the streets around the hotel as they shielded Senator Hanson and One Nation supporters from about 100 protesters. One group of protesters managed to get past the police blockade and chanted \u201cyou support a pedo\u201d and \u201cunite to fight the right\u201d and \u201cput the racist in the bin\u201d while holding signs declaring \u201cno nazis never again\u201d and \u201cf**k Israel\u201d. Victoria Police and Public Order Response officers separated the protesters from One Nation supporters.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"poster-img\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/313d0c0b8cf702d2978f316cb77fe56a.jpeg\" data-sctrack=\"op-poster-img\" alt=\"Pauline Hanson has been met with protesters\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Inside, Senator Hanson and her newly announced Victorian candidates greeted supporters for about two hours before taking to the stage to address the crowd.<\/p>\n<p>There were about 150 people attending the event, with tickets costing $120 each.<\/p>\n<p>One Nation\u2019s candidate for the northern metro region, Mark Nicholson, began the speeches by declaring tonight a \u201cturning point for Victoria\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat a stark contrast this room is to the banshees outside,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn this room is the beginning of something very special.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are the civil ones and we are going to bring this state back\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Nicholson said One Nation would rebuild the budget, restore safety to become the toughest state on crime and restore trust in the government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReal change and change you can trust,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>During her address, Senator Hanson told the packed room that a treaty with Indigenous Australians would be the first thing she will get rid of, if elected to government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou might have Ben Carroll as the head of Labour Party in this state but I tell you what, he doesn\u2019t instil confidence in me by hearing him speak,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s part of the problem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One crowd member could be heard saying \u201cnot my premier\u201d in response<\/p>\n<p>Senator Hanson got emotional as she thanked her supporters for attending the event.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the protesters outside the event left once the rain started but a small group remained outside the hotel at about 7.30pm.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"poster-img\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/f91cdf32624ae2f220870557fa4cf742.jpeg\" data-sctrack=\"op-poster-img\" alt=\"'Enough is enough': Pauline Hanson bans ABC and Guardian from media event\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Less than four months out from the Victorian election, One Nation has yet to unveil a detailed set of policies and only announced seven candidates on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Hanson \u2013 who named state president Warren Pickering as its Victorian leader and candidate for Pakenham, along with its seven lead candidates for the Legislative Council, for the <a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theaustralian.com.au\/nation\/politics\/why-one-poll-has-reframed-the-victorian-election\/news-story\/93d87525c0290abd7d6966042fbdc529\" target=\"_blank\" data-tgev=\"event119\" data-tgev-container=\"bodylink\" data-tgev-order=\"93d87525c0290abd7d6966042fbdc529\" data-tgev-label=\"nation\" data-tgev-metric=\"ev\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">November 28 poll<\/a> \u2013 said the party would start announcing its lower house candidates in <\/p>\n<p>84 of 88 seats shortly .<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPolicies will be released in time prior to the election so people know what our policies are,\u201d Senator Hanson said, adding that she wanted to avoid making \u201cpolicy on the run\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s understood, after conducting 182 interviews, the party has decided on all but four candidates for the 88 lower house seats.<\/p>\n<p>In a heated press conference with Senator Hanson in Melbourne which the ABC and The Guardian were banned from attending, Mr Pickering said <a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theaustralian.com.au\/nation\/carroll-faces-labor-revolt-over-cabinet-cuts\/news-story\/42a4aed87ae1ba84a97ade3330d53e2c\" target=\"_blank\" data-tgev=\"event119\" data-tgev-container=\"bodylink\" data-tgev-order=\"42a4aed87ae1ba84a97ade3330d53e2c\" data-tgev-label=\"nation\" data-tgev-metric=\"ev\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Victoria<\/a> was \u201con the precipice of social and economic collapse\u201d and One Nation was the answer to save the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we contest this election to govern what is arguably the most fiscally and morally bankrupt state in Australian history, we\u2019ve certainly got our work cut out for us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Pressed as to what One Nation\u2019s policies for Victoria were, Mr Pickering said details would start being released in the next couple of weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Pickering said while the party\u2019s crime policy was still to be released, it would include the recruitment of more police officers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe (will) fill the 40 unmanned stations and will ensure we have a reserve force on hand for times of increased activity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Pickering said Victoria was \u201cblowing money\u201d on things he said it didn\u2019t need, including the First Nations Assembly, renewables subsidies and the Suburban Rail Loop, and said One Nation would support a Royal Commission into corruption.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA One Nation government royal commission won\u2019t be a soft touch: it will have teeth and heads will roll,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Asked about the prospect of a Liberal-One Nation coalition, Mr Pickering said he \u201cabsolutely\u201d expected One Nation to be able to govern in its own right. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t intend to have to share government,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Hanson slammed Labor and the Liberals over their handling of the state, labelling Victoria a \u201cbasket case\u201d when it came to crime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople must have honesty in their politicians, integrity, and knowing that they are there to represent them, not the unions, not big business, no one else but the people of this state, which is very important to each and every one of the people in the state, that\u2019s why they\u2019re crying out for change,\u201d Senator Hanson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s why we\u2019re getting so much support &#8230; people say One Nation is the only party that we really trust to turn it around to address the issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople are not happy with the opposition or the Labor government. They\u2019ve allowed it (Victoria) to get to this state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Current One Nation MP Rikkie-Lee Tyrrell, Liberal defector Colleen Harkin, animator and company director Mark Nicholson, lawyer Aaron Sanford, office manager and volunteer Natalie Adams, Geelong councillor Chris Burson and human resources manager Fiona Lopez were unveiled as One Nation upper house candidates on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Hanson said the party would run candidates in every seat, with more to be announced soon.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Hanson <a class=\"body-link\"
