Preston Lions midfielder Luca Tevere has revealed he learned of his release from A-League side Perth Glory via an Instagram post.<\/p>\n
The 24-year-old earned his first experience in the competition on the back of years of quality performances in NPL Victoria, but now finds himself back there after just nine appearances for the Glory in the back end of the 2025\/26 season.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the Suited and Booted Podcast, Tevere told the story of his exit from the club.<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah, I feel like I did pretty good. Like I started the first five games that I was there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was doing well. I was playing a lot of minutes and then the team just wasn\u2019t performing. Things didn\u2019t go my way. I went on the bench and then from there, just kinda went downhill.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey were still saying like positive things to me. But funny story, I obviously went home, I thought like everything was good, they were gonna re-sign me, they were talking me up, saying, you\u2019re this, you\u2019re that, like once you get a full preseason in this, that, whatever.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t hear anything from them for four weeks. I check my Instagram, Luca Tevere services no longer required. That\u2019s how I found out.\u201d<\/p>\n
Former A-League player Rashid Mahazi, who co-hosts the Suited & Booted Podcast, labelled it a \u2018disgrace\u2019, adding \u2018that\u2019s not the first time we\u2019ve heard that\u2019.<\/p>\n
In fact, Mahazi himself faced a similar situation following what turned out to be his final season in the competition with Western Sydney Wanderers.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was the same at Wanderers, bro. Like no one spoke to me,\u201d he recalled.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had to call the coach myself and go, \u2018Hey, am I re-signing or what\u2019s the go?\u2019 He\u2019s like, \u2018Oh, sorry, man. I forgot to tell you\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tevere explained that he asked the Glory directly if they were going to re-sign him for another season, but did not receive a straight answer.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was literally saying to them for like that time before the four weeks we didn\u2019t speak, I said, \u2018If you don\u2019t want to re-sign me, just tell me now\u2019,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey just kept pushing it back.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2026 I just got removed from the group chat. Two days before the post, i got removed from the group chat. Then the media guy messages me and he\u2019s like \u2018sad to see you go, you did well, safe travels\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cI said like, is that it?<\/p>\n
\u201cThe coach contacted me four weeks before and said \u2018you\u2019re still on our radar, at the moment you\u2019re 50-50\u2019. From there on, donuts.\u201d<\/p>\n
