Camera IconRola Badawiya is returning for Perth next season. Credit: Andy Jackson\/Getty Images<\/p>\nPerth Glory have made their first signing of the A-League Women\u2019s off-season and rounded out their foreign squad spots by signing New Zealand striker Maggie Jenkins on a one-year deal.<\/p>\n
Fresh off a woman-of-the-match performance for Essendon Royals in their Football Victoria\u2019s Nike Cup victory, the one-cap Kiwi has inked a first-ever A-League women\u2019s contract as Glory seek a solution to the goal-scoring woes.<\/p>\n
Jenkins was part of the New Zealand side who finished third at the Under-17 World Cup in 2017 and made her senior international debut the same year.<\/p>\n
Despite having not played for the Football Ferns since, she was recently called into their national team camp.<\/p>\n
Jenkins built an impressive resume in her native New Zealand, scoring freely during stops at Wellington United and national club champions Auckland United.<\/p>\n
After departing Auckland for Essendon, she quickly continued her goal-scoring ways with six in her first four matches, before grabbing two goals to help her side lift the Steph Catley Plate and win the Nike Cup on the weekend.<\/p>\n
Before linking up with Glory, she will return to Auckland as part of an invitational side set to face Women\u2019s Super League side Chelsea.<\/p>\n

Jenkins joins winger Megan Wynne, defender Onyinyechi Zogg, midfielder Emma Tovar and forward Rola Badawiya as the club\u2019s foreign signings.<\/p>\n
Perth scored just 20 goals in 20 games last year and their inability to find the net cost them down the stretch as they chased a finals berth. They opted to not re-sign american forward Gabby Hollar, attacking midfielder Sarah O\u2019Donoghue and young attacker Tanika Lala.<\/p>\n
Jenkins, who also enjoyed an impressive stint in Turkey with ALG Spor, is looking forward to her A-League Women\u2019s debut after moving across the ditch to chase her dreams.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m really excited to be signing with Perth Glory for the season ahead,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter speaking with the coaches, it was clear that this was the right place for me to continue developing and challenge myself in a new environment.<\/p>\n
\u201cPersonally, my goal for the year is to get on the scoresheet as much as possible and do everything I can to help the team win games.\u201d<\/p>\n
Glory Football Director Stan Lazaridis said Jenkins had the potential to enjoy a stellar debut season for the club.<\/p>\n
\u201cMaggie is a talented and determined player and a quality finisher who really deserves an opportunity at this level,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe has been an outstanding goalscorer for the past couple of years in particular and I\u2019m confident that she\u2019ll continue banging them in for us.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe need to improve on our goal return from last year and bringing in Maggie will definitely increase our threat in that final third.<\/p>\n
