Shocking footage of the home where a non-verbal man with Down syndrome was allegedly murdered has been released by police.<\/p>\n
Vision shows the home cluttered with piles of unemptied bags and boxes of clothes, groceries and household items.<\/p>\n
Isaac \u201cIke\u201d Oar, 56, was allegedly found severely unnourished and weighed 29kg at the time of his death.<\/p>\n
He was found unresponsive in his home on Alice St in Ayr, in Far North Queensland, on August 10, 2023.<\/p>\n
Police at the time treated his death as suspicious.<\/p>\n
His elderly half-sister Maria Concepceion Arrieta has now been charged with his murder.<\/p>\n
\u201cInvestigations into the death of Isaac, who has Down syndrome and was non-verbal, have been complex, with detectives conducting extensive and thorough inquiries into his health, care and treatment throughout his life,\u201d a police statement read at the time. <\/p>\n
Detectives said the man was \u201cexperiencing serious malnourishment weighing just 29kg at the time of his death\u201d.<\/p>\n
At the time of the man\u2019s death, Detective Inspector Jason Shepherd said the 56-year-old hadn\u2019t received professional medical attention in more than a decade. <\/p>\n
\u201cHe was only 29kg \u2013 that doesn\u2019t happen overnight,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
\u201cThere has (allegedly) obviously been years of neglect in some format.\u201d <\/p>\n
On Tuesday, Ms Arreita, a 70-year-old Forest Lake woman believed to be the man\u2019s half-sister, was arrested and charged with one count of murder (domestic violence).<\/p>\n
She appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday. <\/p>\n
