A Perth paediatrician who allegedly recorded himself abusing children in his clinic has been charged with another 15 child sex offences against seven more alleged victims.<\/p>\n

Chia Liang Saw, 41, was first charged on May 30 this year, with the court hearing he came to the attention of police after allegedly communicating with a self-described “paedophile vigilante”, whom Dr Saw’s lawyer said had “taken on the persona of a child”.<\/p>\n

Dr Saw last appeared in court in early July accused of more than 50 offences.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He is now facing 72 charges relating to 18 alleged victims after an extensive investigation launched, according to police.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The new charges include six counts of indecent dealing with a child under 13 years old, three counts of sexual penetration of a child under 13 years old, and one count of producing child exploitation material.<\/p>\n

The other five new charges relate to allegations Dr Saw indecently recorded children.<\/p>\n

In June, the paediatrician was accused of recording himself abusing children using hidden cameras<\/a> at his consulting rooms in Nedlands, in Perth’s west, and Midland in Perth’s east, where he treated children with behavioural issues.<\/p>\n

Dr Saw is yet to enter any pleas, and has had his medical licence suspended.<\/p>\n

The ABC does not suggest the suspension means Dr Saw is guilty of the charges.<\/p>\n

He is expected to face Perth Magistrates Court today.<\/p>\n

Young females allegedly abused<\/p>\n

Police prosecutors told the court in June Dr Saw’s alleged victims, who then numbered 10, were mainly young female patients aged between 12 and 15.<\/p>\n

The court also heard one victim was a 10-year-old girl who was allegedly abused in a home.<\/p>\n

Police alleged Dr Saw stalked his victims on social media and had visited the Sugar Daddy dating website.<\/p>\n

Sugar dating is typically a type of relationship<\/a> where young women trade their time for the financial sponsorship of an older man.<\/p>\n

It was also alleged Dr Saw admitted deleting incriminating material.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors told the court Dr Saw had expressed feeling “shame and distress”, with the defence counsel saying his client’s name was now “mud”.<\/p>\n
